Forbidden words
In order to make it easier to communicate, I have compiled a list of words that the forums software will automatically replace with asterisks.
The ones that I have discovered are listed below in alphabetical order.
****
****
****
*****
******
*****
****
***
*****
*****
** ****
** ** ****
****
****
I will continue to research in the name of public (do not misspell that) service.
do not attempt to experiment with this feature. If your trial forbidden word fails to be replaced, you will be in deep ****.

I'd like to have that system installed on MGW and include the word **.
Oh! I see it is already on there.

I'm surprised to find that it blocks only 3 of George Carlin's 7 dirty words. I would think any half-decent geek would have included all of those in the list of words proscribed for purposes puritanical.

His original list, or his revised list? George Carlin's "Seven Words You Can't Say on Television" was superseded by events, when all seven of them made past the censors on broadcast television (though admittedly some only in late-night time slots). So, Mr. Carlin developed a second list of seven words you can't say on television, and used that in his stand-up routine instead.

I am curious why, in apparently any language, certain letters in your name form forbidden words of their own. However, I suspect that I'm better off leaving my curiosity unfulfilled.

I checked the list from his standup, I think. It seemed a bit more profane than I remembered, so I think the one in my memory was the TV one, but I looked it up just to be sure and it mentioned his standup routine.

It's all about the syllah-bulls
Monosyllabic words longer than 7 letters (eg, straight) or bi-syllabic words words of less than 4 letters are automatically replaced by asterisks. Obscurantism dictates that this would include two certain 28 and 45 letter words of [secret] syllables without explaining why.
I'm afraid this thread has given away all secrets. We'll soon be become a one page About feature.
