Paula,

I, as most others here, cringed when I read what happened to you. So pleased to hear you came through to AS again. The outcome could have been so much worse, but you must have been living right lately, which is a good thing.

DH and I are looking forward to seeing you again at another rally (met you last Fall at Highland Havens in Virginia and cooked Dutch oven style with you). We thought you are a neat lady and still think that. Best wishes.

Deb

Looking on COLONIAL's site a 25FB has a GVWR of 7300-lbs. At .92 of 7300 and a TW of 12.5% that's at/under 850-lbs. Sure don't need a truck/van for that needed WD.

As you are starting over, a consult with Mr Thomson at CAN AM is recommended (who has stated that he finds trailer lash ups a hobby, a passion beyond his firms experience with more than ten thousand rigs). The Airstream advantage is low-to-the-ground center-of-gravity with fully independent suspension, and so such with the best TV's.

A VPP type hitch and trailer disc brakes are icing on the cake if the TT & TV already have the best spec.

Have a look, please, at ALL possible TV's for the way you actually use your dedicated rig, solo and towing.

Is it a Boy or Girl?

I think it's obvious - ALL Eddie Bauer's are BOYS. So I'll be sleeping with a new boy soon!

Did the deal on the very lightly used one on Colonial Airstream's website.

And the Hensley did the trick. (It has all the bells and whistles and 4 I never heard of before). See it quick before they take it off the website. I really need to get a new tow vehicle because there are systems I have no idea how to use. I'll have to get the big walk-thru and training session at the dealership. It's even prewired for generator PLUS it has solar.

Peter Botticelli is very easy to work with.

Good Karma just splatted down all over me!

Go Girl ! Congratulations.
That's a nice clean rig, saw it at Colonia and I wish you a smooth transaction. You are definitely in great hands with the Botticellis.

Paula,
Glad to hear you are getting "it all back together" again. That new trailer is really great looking.
Please keep us informed about what tow vehicle you get, and your thoughts on the difference between this hitch and what you previously ran.

Did I miss a link to the photos of the crashed truck and trailer ? Not trying to be a rubber-necker....but I would be curious to see what it all looked like after the fact.

Again...so glad to hear you are ok.

Everything looks great on that TT linked; very pleased to see hitch and tire spec. Can they do a disc brake upgrade?

Pleased for you!!

If your next tow vehicle doesn't have a built in brake controller take a look at the Maxbrake brake controller. I recently got one and my trailer actually feels like it has decent brakes. I couldn't believe the difference between the old and new controller. Also there is seamless braking between the tow vehicle and trailer which makes driving in stop/go better and less likely to get the Hensley bump.
Good luck with the new EB!

Paula, how goes the hunt for a replacement tow vehicle?
Also, Hensley will transfer the lifetime warranty to you for a fee.

So it's a 25 FB. Don't want to say more until I've gotten approved.

We love our '07 75th Anniversary 25 FB Easier to tow after a 29, a 30, and then a 28. The 25 has lots of storage, much of it complimentary of my husband who built 5 new drawers. We love the split bath again, lounge area with panoramic windows, and front br. Pantry is also nice with the added shelves. Love the aluminum ceiling. Everyone says the trailer is smaller on the outside and larger on the inside.

Also, so happy you are ok! We did the same thing, rolled our 30'. It took us a while to get into another Airstream but because of many friends (and a good chiropractor) we again thoroughly enjoy our adventures, now in the 25 also with the Hensley!!!. May you Travel Again Safely in your 25!! congratulations!!

Something you might want to check on, The top of their web page says 13,500 BTU AC but the standard specs portion says 15,000. I changed out the AC on my 27FB because the 13,500 was not enough.
Glad you survived the horrific crash.
