"(a) It is the universal custom to display the flag only from sunrise to sunset on buildings and on stationary flagstaffs in the open. However, when a patriotic effect is desired, the flag may be displayed 24 hours a day if properly illuminated during the hours of darkness."

The flag represents the USA and all its greatness, not a single political party or ideology. Unfortunately, in my liberal minded opinion, it seems that the flag of the United States of America has been stolen and is being misused by some people. They fly the flag only as symbol of their common political beliefs and ideology without thought of the true meaning of the flag of the United States of America. Well, I'm stealing the flag back and I'm flying it for everybody.

Pride in nation and heritage is a choice. Some people make bad choices. Some people have no pride.

Don't let it get you down. Remember, at the very end of the discussion, it IS their Constitutional right to disapprove of your Patriotic display. 1st Amendment.

Helpful hint, discussions like this are frowned upon by a more center left ideology of the moderators.

Banning of thought and opinion is now a goal before election 2020. Don't give them excuses.

'Non-political post'

This is my new favorite thread. Zilcsak post is my new favorite post !
Always lead with the Blue field and Stars.
One flag decal on each side of my Jeep.
I bought one of those new LED spotlight for night-time display at home.
Its good.

You fly that flag 'BerieMac'. A lot of good people made the ultimate sacrifice so you may display that flag, and all it represents.

For my next trick, I will use my new Airstream & Dodge Ram 2500 CTD to make this pile of money disappear.

The impression that comes to me when I see a pickup truck speeding down the highway (vehicle usually lifted high with noisy offset wheels) with the flag flapping in the bed - over patriotic redneck. but that is just me. I prefer to see flags waving in peaceful, domestic, settings & when my Airstream is resting nicely at a state or national park. Caz.

You may have people trying to convey that you’re flying the flag improperly.
The US Flag should be flown “to the flags right”. Yours is on the wrong side of your truck.

It’s great that you’re flying it

I would have shaken my head, but it's because I was a boy scout, and that setup gets the flag dirty when at rest

Get it up in the air higher!

(Also, as others pointed out, switch it to the other side)

You also have some unfortunate stereotypes to overcome, whenever I see one of those there is usually a confederate flag next to it and the truck is usually blowing a big cloud of black smoke and generally being obnoxious.

It's unfortunate that that has become the stereotype.

Well obviously, since the original displeasure for the US flag show by some Seattle'ons referenced by the OP is political in nature. A large portion of the population has a disdain for the nation and everything it stands for. And who they are does not have to be spelled out.

Bob, love the flag set up. Our flag pole is very similar. We use to have a 5th wheel, and used the class 3 receiver with the specified flag pole sleeve holder. But with my '18 Classic 30' I have a Propride hitch and am contemplating a "I think" same setup as yours. Do you have a plate under your jack? If so where did you get it?
Thanks. Mike

We’re also very thankful to the many, many folks that welcomed us so kindly and we always do our best to give back to them and to others that we meet on our travels and at home - we live in a Seattle suburb. I see nothing wrong with flying the flag! On the contrary, I find that so patriotic and so American, and that’s why we do it too. Those who made a face towards you were just idiots and, in my opinion, not representative of the folks who live in the Seattle area at all. Shame on them! We have many friends here in the Pacific Northwest and not one of them would do anything like that. That’s just my experience living here for the past couple of decades. Happy travels you all!! Please do visit Washington state because it’s breathtaking.
Washington state is very beautiful, but Seattle, like SF and LA, are an eyesore downtown, unfortunately... We camped last summer outside Seattle and when we went downtown we were shocked at the homeless camps and squallier. We parked by Pikes to get some chowder, we noted how people living in tents in the parking area under the bridge came out to see who was pulling in to park, eyeing the vehicles...very concerning. Highway 2 across thru Idaho back to MT is a very beautiful drive also...

Oh yea, regarding Old Glory; love our flag, and fly it proudly. Love our country and would be very offended if I saw someone desecrate the flag live, in front of me...would have to get involved and try and stop a Viet Nam-Navy vet, I can't handle when people enjoying the nicer parts of country, including our freedom's, would disrespect our flag.

I'm thinking they were scolding you for driving a pickup truck. Were the people who scowled at you in hybrids or plug in electrics... or maybe a Smart car? Did you see any telltale political bumper stickers after they flicked you off? The flag was perhaps secondary.
