Just thought I'd add. I understand the vintage outboard thing. I have a British Seagall motor in my garage that I need to reassemble some day. I used it for several years. It will need to be restored. One of the things that is so cool about these engines is that they are so simple. And they were amazingly dependable. Besides that they looked cool.

Recognize anything familiar?

The old man bought a '59 Lone Star (in about 1967) with a motor like that.

By the way, if you every get up to Dallas, a few miles from downtown on US-175 (Hawn Freeway) there is -- or was -- a boat boneyard FULL of oldsters and parts. Every time there was a major rain that area would flood, and you'd see some old, motorless hulls for miles down the highway afterwards. Not all of them, but enough to keep the grins coming. If I recall correctly -- and this is about 15 years ago -- the neighbors complained about it, but he wouldn't sell out. In a heavily wooded area (Great Trinity Forest, alligators and all), not residential or quite commercial, near Rochester Park.

Well, I looked for it on Google Maps/satellite and don't see it. He had quite a collection of stuff.

klattu-- Was wondering if you'd done any more restoration work on yours? Would love to see more pics if you've done anything else over the past couple of years.

Same goes for Jordan, any updates on Little Miss Bethany since the last time you posted?

I repaired the motor AGAIN after I spun the flywheel... AGAIN, but haven't gotten it wet since the pics posted here. Sad, huh? It's on the list, though. I think the kids are finally old enough to get into it. We're planning on getting her wet again this spring...

... and yeah (before you ask)... I'll post pics when I do!

Ha! You have me figured out for sure! I don't have a Feathercraft so I must live vicariously through you.

Anyway, I know how it goes, I had to sell my boat at the end of last summer. It was only an 18' runabout and it became tough to justify the increasing repair/maintenance costs when I knew the boat wasn't well-suited to my growing family anyway. It was too bad though, because my 2-yo loved it! Still, we have lots of friends with boats, which is often better than actually owning a boat...

The best kind of boat......

Someone elses!

For several years I owned a 28' Skiff Craft sportfisherman. This boat held many of the same attributes as an airstream. Very high quality timeless build, but some components really sucked. (Amish folks shouldn't be allowed to wire, they just don't get it)

When Drew entered school, we could no longer afford the dockage, insurance, maintenance, gas and other expenses. The boat got put in storage. I ended up selling it. Sad day, we had lots of fun on it. Still have a picture on my desk.

Then the Airstream came along! Great replacement! Everything costs about 1/3rd. Trailer won't sink if I do something wrong. Dockage is cheaper. Well free, it's in my driveway.

My son has been competitively sailing for several years now. Great lifestyle. He has learned much, and has met some great people, including the Captain Morgan girls.

We've talked about getting another boat. I've got my eye on one. But then I see another Airstream....
