Regarding your fuse question, if you have a west marine or equivalent nearby (or time to order online) I would suggest getting a correct thermal circuit breaker like the one below. They are pricey ($54) but you will never mess with a fuse again and can use the breaker as a switch as well. I installed one on my 68' Overlander and have been happy with it.
Ignition protected (conforming to SAE J1171) Bussmann style circuit breakers. Safe for installation aboard gas-powered boats.
Waterproof
Combines switching and circuit breaker function into one unit
The minute I take my eye off this thread I regret it. I took a break for a few weeks to allow me to focus on work etc instead of watching you guys ready your boats and I miss the Wisconsin ebay posting. I bid on that hull last Fall and the reserve price was not met. Called the guy and never finalized anything. Now I miss the auction and it sell for $790 buy it now. Could kick myself. Called the seller anyways and told him if he has any problems with the buyer to ring me. Kicking myself for not wrapping that purchase up 3 months ago. So wanted to restore it after getting hooked on this damm thread.
wait till you see what I'm doing for the horn... I got a push to choke ignition switch. I'll either use the push to choke for the horn, or the choke button like you're planning. Dunno yet...
Lots of parts from Boaters World in the garage! I hope to make a little more progress tonight!
you're a bit optimistic with a 45MPH Speedo, aren't you? haha!
While exploring, stumbled across this nite light at WallyWorld...
Looked real close to right size, at least somewhere along its length should fit in hole.
Fit just about right, and LED bulb fit inside.
That was some luck for $3 and custom too!

Made up a table polisher from old fan motor...works great.
1100 RPM
TIP:
Wrap tape around shaft and threads, as at some point buffer will grab part and slam it into shaft, leaving a row of thread marks and you will learn new words.

I went ahead and mounted the paddle and the gas tank straps, and ran new wire to the dash. It seems the old wire was too badly deteriorated somewhere along the line, and a few of the wires had no continuity... McMater to the rescue. I got 12 gage 6 conductor wire to replace it. Looks great... and more importantly... IT WORKS! haha! I still need to wire up the starter solenoid and motor... that's on the agenda this week. I'm STILL planning n taking it out for its first run next saturday!
I went ahead and wired up the stern lights and bow light to my nifty new switch from Boaters World. Bethy Loves turning them on and off... I haven't hooked up the horn yet for that very reason!
I couldn't pass this up on eBay last week... It's going in the barn when it's up. Rewired it over the weekend, and it passed the "making the mountains on the bottle of Coors BLUE" test with flying colors! Needs a cap catcher for the bottom... I may restore it one day like the bigger red one... Kinda like it old and beat up, though!
I ran the air hose for the speedo as well. When you blow into the bottom of the brass pickup tube, it moves! I'm sure it needs adjusting, but I can do that on the lake. I wonder if my Johnson can peg that speedo? haha!
I'm in the middle of making the wooden mount for the control box, but I'm going to wait to post pics of it until its mounted. Looking pretty slick, though! And it matches the dash.
