There is also a clear rubber "dip" for a lack of a better word. I am not so sure on the manufacturer but they made the tool dip some of our shop guys use on the handles of their wrenches and screwdrivers. The stuff is real tough and holds up well. I got some yellow for my tools. I had seen in the catalog that clear was available.
I feel like I've been falling behind in the race to get these boats water-worthy by the Airstream Rally! So, here goes, a few photos of the slow but steady progress.... first off, the controls.... I HAD to polish these!
Next up... the bow... I mounted the bow light, with a grommet to keep the wire from shorting out. I also mounted the ski mirror and the horn. All that's left up front is the actual bow nose piece, and it's DONE!
I had to finish riveting in the transom brace before I could mount the floors. Those are original old stock metal cans from Canada! The perfect touch for the old boats! I'm going to get some of the original Johnson Mile-Master decals for that "original" look.
Also, on eBay last night I got an aluminum battery box! I'm planning on polishing it, and installing it between the cans. Not sure yet how I'm going to mount the cans. I'll figure something out, though...
good eye! She's a 'Cuda AAR (sister to the T/A). Original motor, broadcast sheet, and pistol grip shifter. I never have time to drive it, though... too many hobbies!
Wow, that is a neat one...
And dig the fenders on trailer beside it !
I live just a short distance from this boat, went up to see it last week. All the hardware had been stripped and thrown away so the junkyard would take the boat@#$%^&! The intellectual at the scarpyard had taken a saw and cut about an 8" slot where the windshield would be- was going to cut the bow off of it. There is a 12" dent in the bottom- no too bad. The controls and steering that you see is out of some other later model boat that he was going to mount. The reason I went to see it was the gator fenders on the trailer. I offered him $100 each for them-he turned me down. He scrapped the gator trailer, kept the fenders and made a little motorcycle trailer. Right now there is about 20 minutes left on the auction.
