Yeah, mine's only got the one hole on the bottom... and the thought of drilling another one back there goes against all my understanding of floatation! ha!

what about JoAnns for Fabric? I got some very nice upholstery fabric and used it to cover soundreduction panels in my music room. It was on sale for a buck a yard too.

Double Duty
JoAnn's is one of the stores we headed to, and it was gone.
They had some cool red metailic vinyl I had in mind for seats.
Found some online, just not the same as the touchy-feely method.
OK...great weather coming up this weekend !
We should all make tons of progress.
I need to clone myself at least twice.
Hey Stephanie...
Hows your Wing doing?
We need some progress reports for "Hydrodynamic Motivation"

The Fun Stops Here
Lots of dirty work finished today...
Got both seats bases pop riveted in.
This is the final results, with how following
Under each is a large block of styrofoam...
This is how I made the end pieces fit contour of curve...
The 'tracer' in laying on the left, and you can see the scribed line about 1" from right edge.
Close up of the tool, almost anything that will follow shape you want to transfer, and will hold marker in position will work.
This is hi-tech foam with a sharp wire pushed thru.
Results are nice flush fit.
Not my idea, uncle showed me way back in the 60's
Hope to move on to more fun stuff tomorrow

Very nice! I used the same hi-tech tool to cut the rounded tops to the bench and bed in my little trailer, too! :-)

Cut and Run
Tell more about this event...
"sunnyland festival in lake dora"
Planned to replace wheel with a S/S one.
So just played around with old one to try anything.
Sanded, primed and repeat a few times...
Painted red and white using 'one shot'
Think now will keep this one on Feathercraft and use SS one on pontoon boat.
Fitted foam for seat padding.
Sneak the turkey knife out while she is gone...it cuts foam like hot butter.
Hi-density for bottom, firm for back.
Roughed in patteren with Sharpie.
Mostly red metalic with white 'V' shape

I painted one of the steering wheels I had in the '57 Pontiac, using a green metallic paint to replicate ones you used to be able to purchase over the counter. It worked good but I did have to put a couple of coats of clear on it. Otherwise, after sitting in the sun for a couple of hours, it would get a bit sticky. Sure looked good though and after the clear coat it was just fine.
Sure do like the look of yours. It will look great in the boat. Those of us watching all the happenings going on with the boats are probably almost as excited as you guys to see pictures of them in the water.
Great fun,
Barry

There is also a clear rubber "dip" for a lack of a better word. I am not so sure on the manufacturer but they made the tool dip some of our shop guys use on the handles of their wrenches and screwdrivers. The stuff is real tough and holds up well. I got some yellow for my tools. I had seen in the catalog that clear was available.

I feel like I've been falling behind in the race to get these boats water-worthy by the Airstream Rally! So, here goes, a few photos of the slow but steady progress.... first off, the controls.... I HAD to polish these!

Looks like maybe a trlr for a 4wheeler????. Neat though.
If is was about 1,500 miles closer I would take a look see at the boat.

Next up... the bow... I mounted the bow light, with a grommet to keep the wire from shorting out. I also mounted the ski mirror and the horn. All that's left up front is the actual bow nose piece, and it's DONE!

I mounted the braces on the floorboards before installing them (to prevent them from sagging when you walked on them)...

rear section...
I had to finish riveting in the transom brace before I could mount the floors. Those are original old stock metal cans from Canada! The perfect touch for the old boats! I'm going to get some of the original Johnson Mile-Master decals for that "original" look.
Also, on eBay last night I got an aluminum battery box! I'm planning on polishing it, and installing it between the cans. Not sure yet how I'm going to mount the cans. I'll figure something out, though...
