I doubt if this will ever be my favourite film, but it is getting decent reviews.

The scene that got to me is one where Denzel Washington is mesmerized by the contrail slashing across the sky. I was also enchanted by this one at Sunshine Valley.....

Flight (2012) - YouTube
Update: Finally saw "Flight."
The post-viewing discussion went something like this:

Him (who happens to fly for a living): "Why didn't you tell me this was a comedy? *while wiping tears from his eyes after laughing so hard* No guy on earth would fly with this guy. And the co-pilot -- *bursts into uncontrolled gales of laughter again* -- he cr*pped his pants. I haven't laughed so hard since seeing......" and so on and so forth.

Her: *who is wiping her eyes because she found sections of the film incredibly sad and profound* "But....but....didn't you love how they portrayed the metaphor -- the disconnect from his spiritual being when the wing sliced through the church steeple during the crash? I thought that was sheer genius. Didn't you feel the protaganist's angst -- the angst of the human condition?"

Him: No.

End of discussion.

I am surprised more people don't get divorced over "a night at the movies."

Must Add One to My List

Just saw:
#6 Bernie. Jack Black is magnificent in this quirky move based on the true story of... SPOILER ALERT... A 38 year old funeral director who befriends an 81 year old widow after he presides over her husband's funeral.

WARNING: 81 year old widows may find this movie distasteful.

I really liked The Talented Mr Ripley. It didn't get the critical acclaim but there's something about the setting in 1950's Italy that's really appealing, to me at least. Then there's Cate Blanchett as Meredith Logue, worth the cost of the DVD any day of the week

I would have to say "Duel" with Dennis Weaver driving the Plymouth Valiant against the evil truck! That movie always struck a chord with me since I was young- maybe because my grandmother had the same car, which ended up being given to me as my first.....

Favorite Movie

We camp a great deal near Dupont State Forest, Brevard, North Carolina. Several scenes from "Last of the Mohicans" with Daniel Day Lewis were filmed at the numerous water falls in the area ( Hooker Falls, Triple Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and High Falls). The last time we were there we actually saw two kayakers go over Hooker Falls, just like the canoe in the movie.

We enjoy hiking in this area, viewing the falls and then watching this movie again. Roger Ebert liked this movie and gave it a thumbs up.
