A "HUGE" waste of money.

Hi, basically if the extended warranty comes from the factory, [actual manufacture of the product] I would say yes; But if it is an after market warranty, no matter who sells it, definitely not.

You will have a 2-year warranty from Airstream on your unit...take advantage of it and get everything "right" to your satisfaction within those 2 years...there will be some issues, so be prepared...hopefully your issues will be minor things. Ours were. Appliances in your unit will also carry a manufacturer's warranty...keep track of those as well, and you can extend those on an individual basis. Those are perhaps more worth it, especially the the frig, AC, etc...

Third-party extended warranties are a rip-off IMHO. We had a small motor home before we got the Airstream and bought an extended warranty. First, we had to have any work pre-approved before it would be covered, and then it had to be done by the company who sold us the unit...unless we were not in the area, and then there were even more hoops to jump trough...and getting them to cover anything that was obviously a manufacturing issue was like pulling teeth...if they thought they could get out of it they would try. The whole thing soured our relationship with the company we bought from because we had to fight with them at every turn. Then we when sold the unit and canceled the policy, we had to wait FOREVER to get the refund of the unused portion ...and that is will becoming a squeaky wheel — and trust me again — the formula they use to determine what the refund does NOT work in your favor.

Others may have better experiences with third-party extended warranties, but ours was not good. You are better off to start of fund to use for repairs that may come along...then when you don't have to make repairs you have not lost your money.

If you do decide to buy an extended warranty READ THE FINE PRINT before you do. Understand what is and what is not covered and what the process for making claims is. Don't let the sales guy talk you into it at the last minute as you are signing papers. (We don't buy them on autos/trucks either...for the very same reasons.)

Definitely not! Go to our search link and on the Google Search line, enter "extended warranty" to search on the exact phrase. Read away...

They're expensive for the little added protection. Beyond the Airstream 2-year warranty, some of the installed components have longer warranties. Self-insure and what few things will go wrong should be less expensive by comparison.
