Excella Designation?

Ok, this has been bugging me for some time. What is the Excalla designation? Is it a trim level? I have been thinking it was trim, as the ones I have seen have solid wood interiors, but saw one today without and it threw me for a loop.

excella designation

You are correct, the Excella designation refers to a trim level and there seems to be quite a range of options. Some are the "Excella" casting on the side, sometimes with a "1000" with it ; easy lift mini blinds in bedroom, galley& bath; entrance mat, Tamarak Level Srreen door guard; Wood blinds in the lounge and dinette, Zip Dee chairs, wall clock, Appliance garage, hardwood floors in galley. Some have all the stuff, some don't. Correct me if I'm wrong but the Classics are the only Excellas.John

In my 1979 special edition Excella besides the above had Nu Tone food processor built into the counter top, microwave central vacuum cleaning gold plated bathroom faucets hose and electric reels, sofa and love seat and the intertainment center, vacuum disc brakes. Awnings on every window. Not sure if the monitoring was in other models or not. It also had a glass china cabinet with light and Excella 500 Glasses. I think they were done for two years Cedar closets. Oh and the Aluminum wheels. I know that trailer has a lot more on it than its replacement Excella. I didn't have the zip Dee chairs but had two hardwood folding chairs that were really nice.

Excella models

Back then, the Excella models were upgraded 31 foot trailers.

As an example, what upgrades a 73 Excella had, they would become standard on a 74 model, etc.

Might call it a next years model prototype.

Andy, what about susequent years. I'm certain that I have seen a 25 foot 80's model Excella. Did AS just add it in later as a stand alone model replacing the International?

The later year model designations, to this day, make no sense to me.

I have a 88 25' Excella and a 87 32' (I think) Excella, so they did use the name well through the 80's. brown oak interiors. not a lot of fancy extras. cedar closets for sure. lots of rivets in t he side panels. cast nameplates. al wheels on the long one. steel on the short one. I think they just added the Ecella as thestandard model for quite a while

I think the Limited replaced the so called prototype Excella Andy was talking about and went to 34' sometime in the early 80's .

Not knowing as much as most of you, we *love* our 1999 30' Excella. Solid oak cabinetry, carpet throughout, lots of rivets (as mentioned above), padded vinyl ceiling, velour walls, except bath and kitchen which is wallpaper in a nice quiet design. Top of the line for its day, so far as we know.
