entering canada please help
Hi
If you have purchased a new airstream and have come across the border have you had to pay anything to upgrade to CSA aside from the inspection fee?

I assume that you purchased the trailer in the states.
Mine is a 94 and has clearance lights on it that are required in Canada but are not on American trailers. Mine was bought in Canada and manufactured for sale in Canada.
Why would you bother with CSA if bought in States?

My understanding is you just pay a fee however I have also heard you might have to change the breakers. If you do it shouldn't cost too much.

I went through the same process of shopping in the US. Ended up buying in Canada the price difference wasn't much. I was concerned with warranty service. Sure the Canadian dealer has to do it but will the customers who bought from them come first. Plus I think it's good to support local business.
You might save a few bucks now but sorry later.

I would suspect that if the trailer is brand new it would have to meet all CSA standards but not if it is used.

Ask a US dealer—they should have experience selling to Canadians as some people in BC avoid the BC dealer because they don't like it. I think the Airstream dealer in Eugene, Oregon, George Sutton, has sold to Canadians. Airstream makes a Canadian version, so it may be special order in the US.

I think the key word may be "New" trailer. I too imported a 2005 classic 30 and had no troubles at all, but I think the original poster of this thread is looking to bring in a brand new trailer and it is possible that the rules may be different - CSA approval of electrics for example.
I personally don't know if brand new vehicles must meet different regs.

jillya,
Did you try the search function? There have been umpteen (at least) people on there that have done just what you are asking about. You might learn something by reading their detailed accounts of their experiences.
Up top, the dark horizontal bar, is a Search button. Click it,a nd you will have several choices. One of the is a Google search of Airforums, and it's great.
Just try it, you've nothing to lose...
