You could just purchase a regular bike. A quality bicycle that fits you, setup correctly with good tires can easily be ridden up to 10 miles in each direction (about an hour).

We find that is plenty of range from our starting point.

They are normal BikeFriday folding bikes with the E-Assist module. They take up much less space than conventional e-bikes. You can easily remove the E-Assist module from the bike whenever you want to go conventional or want to reduce the weight for transport.

We ride and carry non-electric Bike Fridays on our Fiamma Airstream mounted rack. Each of our conventional Bike Fridays weigh 27 pounds. Their combined weight is 21 pounds less than the 75 pound weight limit of the Fiamma carrier.

An additional benefit of the Bike Fridays unfolded on the carrier is that they do not obscure the Airstream's tail/brake lights which we found was a problem with our full size mountain bikes. So imagine the bikes pictured with an E-Assist module easily attached and removed from the seat post.
Hi

A question about the Bike Friday folding bikes:

Will a pair of them fit in the bed of a truck? If so, how much space do they take / how much is left for other junk (..... we have a *lot* of junk .... ).

For folded size reference, the touring model Bike Fridays like the ones shown on the back of my trailer are designed to fit in a large Samsonite suitcase for air/train travel. Their commuter bikes like the Pakit fold smaller and much quicker and are lighter.

Hi

Ok, that gives me a pretty good idea of space. Obviously a 20" wheel with 1.5" tires isn't going to get much smaller than about 23" ....

We are ... errrp ...out of the range for the commuter bikes. That has been one of the main issues as we have shopped for bikes. Their touring bikes do indeed seem to be made for full sized people ... errrp ....

That cover doesn't work for me because with a Honda 3000is, I need every inch of headroom, thus the hard tonneau.

The secret of the tracks is the ability to use the rails for cargo. Yakama says this system is rated for 300# on road, and 180# off road.

I noticed his cargo carrier is a Thule.

Another option: I’m very satisfied with my Undercover Ridgelander Tonneau with Rhino Rack Aero Bars and 1 UP fat tire bike tray. Easily reconfigured to carry my RadRover e-bike, Bigfoot hardshell rooftop tent (for the grandkids) or a pair of kayaks. A Yamaha 2400 fits nicely under the tonneau.

Here is my solution although it was not done just for bikes. I recently reversed the mounting so the front of the bike is facing rearward. Easier to get to and you can roll them out easier. My bikes are folding also, but at 49 lbs. they are harder to deal with folded.

Our solution, I ebike and one mountain bike. Trailer is useable except for the table and seating. Bikes are dry, clean, and secure.
