I live in the South, and work in a building full of engineering & technical types.
There are two different people I work with who sell farm-fresh, brown eggs at the office for less than a reasonable price because their hens lay more than they can use.
A third person appears to be too proud to sell his excess eggs, and is slowly but surely raising his family's cholesterol level - He has more recipes for eggs than Bubba had for shrimp in

The original owner might have found an unusal way to get rid of excess eggs.
