Ebay Airstreams?

What is with all the airstreams on ebay right now? 10.99 Starting bid. It says don't bid good only for "buy it now price" which is not listed. Free shipping & Best Price - Vehicle Purchase Program? SCAM?

SCAMS

For some reason there seem to always be a large amount of scammers going after Airstream shoppers. I know most of us are smart enough to know one when we see one, but someone who is looking for the first time can get burned. There are two documented cases that I am aware of where people did get into it and lost big time.

I think the reason the scamers are doing this is , if you read the forums see how many are "still looking". or have been looking for years.you don't see that for sob trailers.some people want the air stream so bad that they jump right on a funny deal.they don't check it out first.they forget that we have people here that will check out airstreams for you.just my $.05

Ebay Airstreams

I noticed 2 this week by the same person---one a Vintage Bambi and the other was a new model....highly unlikely I thought....also they both asked you to email them first to get permission to bid...I contacted ebay questioning the ads and they were gone within minutes (as well as the Bayliner boats they were trying to sell)! Buyer beware!!! pj..

Wow! The bedroom in that trailer has a nice outdoorsy feel, with the tree bark and the snow.

While we're talking about wrecks on eBay, anyone remember this one? Anyone remember some of the folks in that thread? Whatever happened to BobbyW or Tin Can Luv? (Or Tin Hut?)

I had a good time on ebay once scamming the scammer. I kept on pressing him for details and arrangements, prices, phone numbers, arrangements to see the trailer etc. which naturally he kept on coming up with excuses for. I had him hooked for a while thinking he had a good chance of getting my money. He finally gave up in disgust. At least I wasted a few hours of his (and my) time, but I was feeling more honery than usual and had nothing better to do at the time.

Those auctions are all a scam. Besides the set up with instructions to not bid thru eBay but to contact the seller thru email, the seller is using photos from someone else's auction for a '54 Flying Cloud (I know this because I was watching the original '54 FC auction). The scam artist has been reported to eBay and the listings have all been taken down now.

I did this too, had a guy thinking I was wanting to wire money and THEN go look at the trailer.

Only $7,000.

Vulkem sales will be quite high after this sale.

I took about 2.5 seconds thinking about what the cost of repair would be, and what the worth would be after.

Although, there was one guy looking for a trailer to convert (or already made one) into a toy-hauler with a ramp door in the back and a separate compartment for cycles/4-wheelers, bikes, etc. I remember one guy asked about the feasibility of shortening an AS that had been rear-ended. Don't know what happened if anything.

Question

Sometimes if you make a best buy offer well below the buy it now...it will be accepted. I have successfully done so in the past.

I agree that alot of these are scams, but I HAVE made legitimate high end purchases in the past without being ripped-off...including a 76 vintage AS .

Be Careful,

Steve

BTW I did make a best offer on one of these AS. We'll see.
