EAA 2011 AirVenture, Oshkosh, Wisconsin

For those that might be interested, the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) is having its annual fly-in from Monday, July 25th through Sunday, July 31st. During this week long event the airport becomes one of the busiest in the world. There is essentially unlimited RV parking with generator sections plus a limited number of water / electric sites for those staying the whole week.

Absolutely all manner of aircraft are represented (in the past the Concord, U2, Airbus 380, Experimentals, WW2 birds, etc. have been present). For details the following is the link to the EAA website:

AirVenture Oshkosh Where to Stay

I’ll be spending the week there; hope to see other silver “fuselages”.

I was talking to Dad last weekend...this will be he and mom's 44th year to attend...they are headed up early next week...

I think the wife and I might attempt to go in the next few years...it's been 20+ years since I went...and that trip ended up in an engine failure and emergency landing...

If you think Airstreams bring a common thread...you ain't seen nothing until you see Oshkosh!!!

Ya'll have fun.

Thanks for the tip, but we have parking arrangements on private property adjacent to the airport so we won't be parking in Camp Scholler. We are arriving on Monday mid-morning, we'll keep an eye out for you though. We're only staying a few days - but we've been looking forward to this for quite some time...maybe we can work something out. Let me know if you want to try & have an AirForums meet-up somehow ~

That's something I have long wanted to attend. This year is out, for me, but I could see us fitting that into next summers trip.

Should we organize and Airforums rally at Oshkosh for next year? I haven't been since I moved to ATL, but I used to attend every year when we lived in Chicago.

A fabulous event! Have been there several times. Certainly would love to go again but not this year. Enjoy!

Sounds good...I replied with same.

Anybody else attending this year? It's been on our "things to do list" for 20+ years since Mr.InsideOut became a pilot...this is finally the year it's going to happen for us.

Shari

It's truly an amazing event -- nirvana for those who love aviation and all things that fly. We took our Airstream in 2009 and 2010 but unfortunately this year is not in the cards for us. Hopefully we'll find ourselves back in 2012.

Sounds good to me! Has there ever been a rally at AirVenture in the past?

I believe the WBCCI WI Unit has planned a rally from time to time...
