We have a chance at it tonight, if the weather clears a bit.

I'd like to have a little of what you guys were drinking when you were watching it last night.

Me too on all counts. Apparently we can also see the doomed satellite looking to the south at 6:09PST tonight.

Now wait, was there an eclipse last night, or are some people just experienceing bad air pollution? I just got my weekly NASA sicence news email and it says it's tonight. It clouded up so thick last night you couldn't even tell there was a moon behind it, so I couldn't tell either way.

Of course, it usually clouds up just when there's something interesting to see. A new comet to look at can make it cloud up for as much as a month!

It is really tonight, Wednesday, February 20. (Now my title is correct! ) Unforunately, last night was a GORGEOUS clear night and tonight is cloudy.

My local paper messed up yesterday and got me all confused.

Looks like that's the way it's shaping up here, too. It's startin' to cloud up pretty good. But what the heck, we really need the rain that's on the way.

Have Y'all seen the space station yet? You can't miss it when it comes overhead. It's very, very bright. I keep trying to catch it when the shuttle is up, but can never seem to. There's a tracking program on the NASA site.

Good luck tonight everybody, hope the seeing is good in your area.

Jim

The weather guy says we have a better than 50/50 chance to see this luner eclipse tonite. Mid winter Northern Ohio those are good odds. I hope we are lucky this time. We have missed a few of them because of bad conditions.
The space station is a real treat to see if you get the chance. I have caught it's race across the sky a number of times. Once shortly after the shuttle had undocked where there were two closely spaced dots racing one after the other. That is a good memory especially since it was on a partly cloudy evening when pure luck played a part.

Here's the link to the NASA site that lets you calculate sighting oppotunities for the Space Station (and other stuff). Play around with it some. Click on "start applet", fill in your zip code, then select a sky object. It will even draw a "sky map" for you if you want.

Have fun.

We are fairly clear here now, big full moon sailing through sporadic clouds with a promise of snow and sleet beginning (again!) about 2 or 3 am. We should see the eclipse before the bad stuff arrives, per our weatherman. Luckily we can view it from comfortably inside the house 'cause it's too darned windy and cold to watch it outside! ~G

Overcast here in Tullahoma, TN. We are expecting a drop in temp and maybe some snow flurries overnight.

Cleared up here too, and I can see it coming up through the trees. I should have a good view in about 45 minutes. I'm going to try and get some pictures if I can.

The sky is Minnesota is as clear as crystal, thanks to an Arctic high. You can see the mountains on the edge of the moon.

I wish it was as clear as last night...

Here is another pic (taken at about 9:15pm). Had to move the tripod, the moon is rising right into a tree .

At 9:22pm. It's getting darker, and I had trouble finding my tripod in the yard .

It looks like some breaks in the clouds are coming... I see stars behind me. Maybe that's just from looking up so much...

Here is another shot, taken at about 9:32pm. I see the whole outline of the moon too.

I also see the several random color pixels from the 7 year old digital camera. But the 10x zoom really pulls in the distant objects, which is why I bought it for my Alaska trip in 2001.
