Dog Beds

It seems as if our 8 month old boxers think ALL beds are dog beds...

They are sure that is how they think it is supposed to be, and they have learned to be very soft footed in the middle of the night...

It's Daisy's silver dog house - we're grateful she lets us use it too...

My dog sleeps on the floor or under the dinette table. At home he has a bolster bed in our bedroom at the foot board.
Just for fun one time I put him on the bed. I thought he was going to have a heart attack from this - he hated every minute of it.
I wouldn't want him in the bed anyway. He sheds enough hair I could make a new dog every week. Daily vacuuming is a must. He is an inside/outside dog and roams free. He likes do dog stuff - run through the brush, herd cattle, roll in the dirt, etc.....
He likes his special bolster bed inside our house and dog house outside.

He will be 15 years old in December and I wouldn't trade him for a million bucks!!

An old picture.

As a dog trainer I am not going to get into human bed or not, but I do have an opinion and facts to back my opinion on. Our dogs sleep in dog beds, a Termperpedic mattress we did not like so my wife cut it up, made covers and they sleep on those. In the Airstream one sleeps between the front recliners on a bed and the other sleeps in front of the one driver side recliner. That way they can watch us and at 5:30AM or anytime after if one of us opens our eyes they are up and sitting on my side of the bed to go out.

I tell people when I train them and visit with their dogs that they can do what they want, which is one of the joys of having dogs. I give them my ideas, some based on experience so on teachings I've been thru and some from other trainers and they tell them to first and foremost enjoy their dogs as they are only with us for a short period of time.

Wink

There were 3 but now only 2. No matter, there's NEVER any room for them on any furniture. They are warm, cozy and can spread out as much as they like. The beds and sofa are only for us. Same rules apply to our house!

My boarder terrier travels and sleeps in an airline approved crate. I have trained her to only jump onto a lay-z-boy when I am in it with my feet up. Other than that she stays on the floor. She sleeps in her crate, or den as I call it, because they are den animals, whether in the trailer or at home.

My dog, a blue heeler mix has three beds in the house plus mine makes 4. It's really hers and I get to fit where I can at Night.
I would not have it any other way!
In the Caravel they are all hers too.

We let ours up, mainly because they are persistent and sneaky, but we change bedding three times a week.
