"Do they Still make those?"

How long has it been since anyone asked you that question?

When I first started Airstreaming in 2006 I was frequently asked just that.

Now? Never. Say what you will, Thor has effectively made "Airstream" familiar to most people. Think of ALL of the product placement they've done on commercials for insurance, camping, blood thinner drugs, Jay Leno videos, etc., etc., etc. Then there must have been a dozen RV shows including "Norm's" tour of the factory as well as several shows and movies where a character lived in an Airstream.

There are still lots of folks who've never BEEN in one, and the EB's "back porch" continues to draw interest, but I'm no longer living in the grave of the unknown soldier. Your experience?

Paula

Having an Interstate, I'd never have been asked that question in the first place. But I do get people from time to time telling me, "I didn't know Mercedes made motorhomes!" Maybe Airstream needs to do some more product placement…

Wonderful! A better line you couldn't hope to write.

A few people have asked me how old our 2011 Airstream is and look surprised when I tell them, but only once has anyone said outright that they didn't think they were still made. Mind you, this is Canada and people are so polite that they don't like to make such direct statements (I'm an equally polite Brit so I can say that )

Paula...

I was just asked that question last week. It was in the hinterlands of Oregon (John Day, which is pretty hinter).

Maybe because mine is clearly an old one, I do get that question fairly often.

We're still asked the question. It usually goes more like "That's a nice Airstream for its age, they were really well-made weren't they?"

I get the "When was it made?" question all the time. Each time I tell them it's a 2014 model, they are amazed.

Just a few weeks ago a lady was like, "I didn't know they still made those."
I'm like, "They make 'em every day. They never quit. Mine's a '13."

We often hear "I've never seen one of these before" and "I didn't know Airstream made these".

Still.

Make a card board sign for the window that says, build completed and the date. That is self explanatory for folks that can read.

Maybe get a sign shop to make you a vinyl graphic sign saying. "Yes. They still make 'em."
Sorta like my "The Honys" signs-

Hey, I like those. Are they easy to remove when I'm ready to sell or put up a different message?

I would imagine they would be about like the red numbers. They will probably leave ghost images. The Airforums sticker on the glass will be easier to remove. Maybe the "Yes, they still make 'em" sticker could go on the rear window or the front window protector.
When I first got on here, Protagonist's avatar was where mine is supposed to be for a few seconds. That is weird.

I don't ever plan on selling the trailer. Otherwise I wouldn't have put them on.

Since we have a 1980 International, we also get the "Do they still make them?" question. I love the idea of the vinyl lettering - of course, I know when I mention it to my husband, he will want a giant block "ND" for Notre Dame football on it...

Put the big ND on the back window.
People around here have a big A or MSU or Ole Miss on their campers, cars, golf carts, tattooed on their bodies...

We get asked that almost every time we go somewhere.
Down at Jackson Center there is an Airstream in their lot that has a "Yes they still make them" sign on it.

When asked "if they still make them" I say that they quit at 3:30 today but will start again in the morning.
