Did Airstream sell the Airstream Chopper?

A friend said he saw this sell at the recent Barrett Jackson auction.

I saw this bike at the factory in May 2014, wonder why they sold it?

I also recall seeing it at JC and thinking it wasn't very impressive compared to some of the other custom bikes you see. I believe is was created by bike designer Jesse James.

It didn't really seem to incorporate many Airstream touches either.

Maybe JC felt the same way about it!

I think it's level of "coolness" was not up to that of an Airstream.

Looks like AS got screwed in that deal, 1 50 G bike for 2 100+ G trailers,,, I wonder how long it took JJ to talk Thor into this? for some reason this does just not seem like something the hags up at the MotherShip Thor Ind would be interested in. After all as far as I can tell and I may be wrong but it seems like they have done every thing else to run AS into the ground.
I wish they would put AS up for sale at a reasonable price, I would be glad to put investors together buy it, move it here to Tennessee and bring it back to greatness.

Airstream decided to sell the bike and donate funds to some charities.doesn't seem like such a bad thing.
