Desperately seeking Glacier Park info ...

... I'm marginally part of a group that is bidding on the resort at St. Mary, the eastern outlet to the Going-to-the-Sun Highway. While those mountains are my former stomping grounds, I'm not familiar with the lodge itself. I'm hoping to tap 2 veins of information:

1) Any recollections, suggestions, employee names, or expense itemizations of visitors to the Resort at St. Mary. Good & bad. This would help me with the writing of the business plan & get my brother off my back. (Don't confuse St. Mary with the spectacular log lodge at East Glacier that is quite well known; St. Mary is 30 miles north.)

2) From an RV point of view, what exactly would bring you to the lodge for a visit, and what would keep you coming back? (The only RV spots right now are reserved for summer help, but the lodge comes with 28 undeveloped acres.)

What's in it for you? If we get this resort, it WILL cater to the Airstream enthusiast, someway, somehow.

Of course I'm an elitist. Look around you.

Page and I have only been to Glacier once, but we spent 3 days that time. We stayed on the other side of the park - at Lake McDonald. I remember going by the Resort and had lunch a couple of days in the area (the weather was much better on the St Mary side of the mountains).

We will go back - camping this time - and would enjoy a nice campground at the resort. I would think the resort would be a wonderful attraction to a wide variety of folks, acting as an upscale gateway to some of the most spectacular scenery anywhere.

Good luck - sorry I don't have the specific kind of info you were seeking. I just love the place.

We always stop at the lodge for Breakfast. Usually when I visit the
gnp we camp both in Many Glacier and at Two Medicine so St. Mary's is really the gateway to both places if you crossed through the park over Going to the Sun road. I can't believe these people would sell. The dining room always seems packed, the gift store bustling, and cars are everywhere.

As far as staying there? Well there is huge competition with the National Park itself. If you are one who boondocks, why would you want to stay in a parking lot like camp site when you can be tucked in to the beauty with trees, creeks, and mountain views?
