I heard something completely different. That Junior was leaving racing to become Jeff Gordon's personal assistant.

He can learn to race from a seasoned champion. Almost as close as learning from his dad ......... go fast, turn left

I'm guessing JR. could buy DEI for a song in about two years.

Richard Petty is the King!

Daytona

1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, that is. Buddy Baker turned a lap at 238mph in one at the Chrysler proving grounds oval in Chelsea, MI. To build it, they pulled a Charger off the line and started modifying it.

Now that was a car. MOPAR!

Read post #3. Waltrip rarely qualifies, hence he wanted weekends off. Its been circulating on an email joke, I though everybody would get it.

Seattle, Washington opinions???

How come you NASCAR folks did not raise your voices when the local Government, Seattle Tacoma area I think, turned down the proposed NASCAR development recently? They did not want that type of Fan and activities in their area. Everytime they have a race at the Texas Motor Speedway, near me, I see what they worried about.

What in tar-nation are they worried about?

Todays NASCAR Rednecks are watered down, rich, mommas boy's versions of their drunk, fist fighting, fun lovin ancestors from the 70s...
Shift Fire...so are the drivers! and their mono-cars

A few historic images...
From the 80s, mindset was still the same.

One more from Talladega infield.
Still have this '76 Chevy, (retired yard only work truck now) has over 400,000 miles, and it shows!
We did not know we had it so good...$10 a head, $10 a car, and we still hid someone behind the seat.

With regards to your photos posted, they don't make engines like that any more! Sweet looking!
Love the Road Runner! It brings back fond memories from high school!
