Custom built CNC machine (youtube video)

I saw these plans on the DIYLILCNC build page and wanted to create one for my business. I had to scale the project bigger to fit my needs. That being done, I had to strengthen up almost the entire design to be able to span the greater distances. Overall the build was finished in a months time and around 900$ spent on hardware, 400$ controller, and a lot of money on the software to run this thing. I'm using 205 oz. stepper motors from HobbyCNC, a PMDX controller seup, all running on a Windows 7 based PC with 8 gb of ram and a i5 processor. The software I use is VCarve Pro 8.0 for my designing and Mach4 for my G-code reader. The machine is capabile of carving 30" by 34" and 4" tall and can cut almost any basic material.

See this machine in action on the YouTube link below!

Please feel free to ask any questions about the build, and don't forget to like this video!

Very nice.
What did you use to make the spindle?

I am currently using a Dremel model 100N-7. I eventually want to upgrade to a laminate router that would accept 1/4" bits for more efficiency and stability. I would have to strengthen the frame work up again in order to achieve this. For now it does a nice job at a slower feed rate. It just takes forever......

That was fun, thanks.

You could drill through holes and hook-up a shop vac and make at vacuum table/clamp to hold your pieces.
