I was saddend to read that Steve Erwin, known as the Crocodile Hunter on TV was killed in a freak accident when a stingray's barb pierced his heart. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Sad

That is very sad news and I had hoped that your post was a prank, but it is not. My daughter is an avid fan and hoped to visit the Australian Zoo someday to meet him.

Very sad news.

awful..sorry to hear that, and he had a young family also. I actually was stung by a sting ray many years back in Fla. I can attest to just how much that hurt, and it was a small one. The pain stayed with me quite awhile.

This is sad news. He lived life to its fullest and promoted all our animal friends in the wild and he died doing what he loved. Its a shame for his wife and two kids.

It is a sad day. We enjoyed watching his programs too. He certainly gave the impression that he loved life and lived it fully ~ at least he passed on doing what he wanted!

Very sad for his wife and children. Our thoughts go out to them.

I agree, my first thought was how sad it was for his family. I never really watched him, but I find it particularly depressing that he was accidently killed by an animal after all the exotic and dangerous animals he handled on purpose. He certainly generated a lot of interest in animals and nature, and that is a very good thing.

Steve Irwin

I don't know about some of you but his death has hit hard here in the Lacy family. My 8 year old son loved him and was glued to the tv when his show was on. I loved watching him get so excited when he found some unusual creature by crocky. I always let Austin watch his shows and was proud of it instead of some power ranger fight cartoon or shoot um up cartoon. My heart goes out to his family and all the other viewers that are going to miss him.

Did anyone see the 20/20 Barbara Walters Special? So Sad. There is footage of his recent family vacation in an Airstream Interstate.

I caught her show, and the repeat broadcasts of Bindy doing a tribute to her daddy..so sad, but heartwarming!..seems she's on the path to continuing in her daddy's footsteps.
