hi there canoe stream....

i recall when kansas and kentucky were closing in on the first team to reach the 1000 win mark in basketball.

being a jayhawk....we were clearly ahead....way ahead.....

then a debate started about which wins count as wins....

for example kentucky complained that....... my jayhawks were counting some wins in which the kansas coaches (naismith and allen) also coached the apposing/losing team (haskel indian college)...

we jayhawks discovered that evil kentucky was counting some intra squad games....
where the first team wildcats beat the 2nd team wildcats....

and besides that the kentucy coach played and graduated from kansas.....

anyway it all got quite messy........which brings us to THE count.....

just which of mister twinks posts count......and which ones don't?

here for example is a thread he stared.....12/2003, that ran till 3/2004....

however the slippery silver dog.....

EDITED his first post...removing the basis for the entire thread.....2 YEARS LATER!.....

so i'm not sure the first post....or any of his in that thread should count...."fruit of the poisonus tree".....and all that habeus crapus....

he may have 1-2000 posts with this sort of issue.....someone is gonna need to read em all....
and it ain't this cockroach.....

which brings me back to basketball and the impact of one person....

wilt the stilt chamberlain is a kansas jayhawk and played in the 50's.....

before his years, the lane was about 4 feet wide with a circle at the top...
and the whole thing was called a "the key"....

because he was so dominant 'in the key' the ncaa bosses wide'end the lane to the present size and invented the '3 second rule'....

they also made other new rules....just trying to neutralize big wilt's impact....
they became know as the "wilt chamberlain" rules....

which brings me back to the forum.....

we only have 15 MINUTES now to edit posts......

and i'm callin' ii the "silvertwinkie rule"

let the roast begin!!!

cheers

Shari, I gotta wonder if you are from the motor (motah) city originally, you sure think like some of the folks that run da place. Here I have a lovely bribe, displaced Detroiters clamor for, I mean a lovely moderette hostess gift, for you--a Lafayette Coney Island dog...or how about a nice turquoise knicknack from the 60s for the trailer??? roll em back Shari!!!

No, I'm not from Detroit, but my brother-in-law is! I do (did) have some uncles named Guido, Giuseppe & Tony and my grandfather's name was Angelo Ciachanti...I must get it from "that" side of the family!

Besides, to be from Detroit would mean I'd have to be a Red Wings fan...BoooHiss!

2AIR' -- ONE LINERS? ONE WORDERS?? YOUR GRASP OF HISTORY PICKS ON THE EASY BAIT. NOBODY BEATS A FORMER FORUMS VETERAN (AND STILL A READER) -- airstreamcaravel. TO WIT, THE SEINFELDIAN "THREAD ABOUT NOTHING" -- HTTP://www.airforums.com/FORUMS/SHOWTHREAD.PHP?S=&THREADID=1521 .... AND NOTHING LED TO SUCH FORMATIVE JEWELS AS BOBBYW'S POST #35!!!

SPEAKING OF "NOTHING'S" POST 35, I REFER TO THIS THREAD'S POST 35. SOME WISEGUY SEEMED TO HAVE THE OPINION THAT THE FORUMS WERE ABOUT "EVERYBODY WHO PARTICIPATES -- SO HAVE A BIT OF FUN." AS MUCH AS THIS THREAD I STARTED IS ABOUT NUMBERS, THE WHOLE SCHEME IS ABOUT AIRSTREAMERS SUPPORTING EACH OTHER. WHICH BRINGS ME TO SAY -- THREE HOURS FOLKS!! GUESSES CLOSING AT MIDNIGHT!!!

Well, I had forgotten all about that post...and I don't recall what had happened to the quote, but if I recall correctly Shari did combine some thread with the one in question. I have asked that the orginal quote that was in there be restored.

Three.... Two....

There was ease in Twinkie’s manner as he stepped into his place;
There was pride in Twinkie’s bearing and a smile on Twinkie’s face.
And when, responding to the cheers, he lightly doffed his hat,
No stranger in the crowd could doubt ‘twas Twinkie at the bat.

Ten thousand eyes were on him as he rubbed his hands with dirt;
Five thousand tongues applauded when he wiped them on his shirt.
Then while the writhing pitcher ground the ball into his hip,
Defiance gleamed in Twinkie’s eye, a sneer curled Twinkie’s lip.

And now the leather-covered sphere came hurtling through the air,
And Twinkie stood a-watching it in haughty grandeur there.
Close by the sturdy batsman the ball unheeded sped –
“That ain’t my style,” said Twinkie. “Three posts,” the umpire said.

From the benches black with people, there went up a muffled roar,
Like the beating of the storm-waves on a stern and distant shore.
“Kill him! Kill the umpire!” shouted someone in the stand;
And it’s likely they’d have killed him had not Twinkie raised his hand.

With a smile of Christian charity great Twinkie’s visage shone;
He stilled the rising tumult; he bade the game go on;
He signaled to the pitcher, and once more the spheroid flew;
But Twinkie still ignored it, and the umpire said, “Two posts.”

“Fraud!” cried the maddened thousands, and echo answered, “Fraud!”
But one scornful look from Twinkie, and the audience was awed;
They saw his face grow stern and cold, they saw his muscles strain,
And they knew that Twinkie wouldn’t let that ball go by again.

The sneer is gone from Twinkie’s lip, his teeth are clenched in hate;
He pounds with cruel violence his bat upon the plate.
And now the pitcher holds the ball, and now he lets it go,
And now the air is shattered by the force of Twinkie’s blow.

... and the Winnah is???

Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;
The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light,
And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout.
With Twinkie at the plate, Airstreamers never strike out!!!!
.................................................. .................................................. ....................

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves and the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Twinkie, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun the frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand: Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree, and stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood, the Twinkie, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood, and burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through the vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head he went galumphing back.

"And, has thou slain the Five Thousandth? Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay! he chortled in his joy.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves, and the mome raths outgrabe.
