I have to share this. One of our field people mention, about a year ago, that there were two old Airstreams sitting in a field about an hour north of our office. Today I finally decided to cut out early and go see if they were still there. Boy were they. One is a mid 70's that's had a tree lay down on the curbside roof and crush the A/C.
There's a motor home there also but I don't know enough about them to comment.
The other is a 7 panel - single window on the curbside - with a round vent pipe coming out just above the tire. Didn't appear to have a rear tire carrier - the skin was really good. I'm thinking Caravelle or - dare I say it a Bambi. The poor thing is sitting there with the windows open .
I couldn't get close enough to tell anymore for fear of getting shot. On the way back I checked with a local business and they told me someone used to live in the house but moved out several years ago. Then the place had an office in it for a few months. When I asked about the Airstreams they said - you mean those old junk trailers sitting back there - hell they can't be any good.
He gave me the County Auditors name so next week I'll do a little more research to see if the property is abandoned to a local bank or what.
Thanks for tolerating my rambling excitement - now I'd just need somewhere to store them.
Of course - and yes I took the camera I use for work - but - dead battery. I could have bit nails. I may run back out this weekend just to do that, now that I know no one lives there, and get the serial numbers too.
Be careful. just because no one lives there, doesn't mean no one stays there. I have suprised many homeless people when checking out an abandoned structure or vehicle.
I had this happen to me 25 years ago but with a 66 Mustang. The property was tied up in a divorce. I got the car but the bank slaped a total loss title on the vehicle when I picked it up. I could never get the car on the road again without alot of legal mombo jombo involved. It was OK, all I wanted were the parts.
Great story you have - pictures would be GREAT. Good Luck. It pays to be looking around sometimes.
Very kind of you to want to help clean that abandoned place up a bit. Get a couple pieces of junk out of there. Only good for parts they've been sitting for so long, but you are up to the task.
It's a wonderful thing when these kinds of things come along. Interesting that they had two 'streams so they must have liked them. I'm always amazed that anyone would abandon one, but then I've also found abandoned Corvette's, Chevelle's, Impala's and other desirable cars (not so much now but lots of the them in the past).
Thanks - keep us posted, and looking forward to the pictures.

Not every thing like that is abandoned. I am currently trying to procure a 1983 Honda Accord for a friend. Not that a 25 year old Honda is anything special, but this one is a one-owner, with 60,000 documented original miles on it. All paperwork from when they had anything done to it is included, down to the oil changes. I also saw the window sticker, neatly folded and placed in the folder with the owner's manual.
My guess is that I'm going to find the property belonged to a couple that passed away and the place/trailers are still owned by relatives. That could still work out if they have no interest in camping and live some distance away. Someone has to be paying the taxes or the place would have gone to Sheriff's sale in Ohio in like 18 months. We'll see - a new day brings a calmer approach - yesterday I was ready to pee myself over the little one. Aluminum fever is easy to catch...
Hey Gary, I'm trying to get there first but having no luck. Any clues?
Good luck in checking this out and let us know what you discover. The pic is actually where I went to school thru 3rd grade in Fairborn, OH. Not even close, right? I said, "right?"

I also Spotted one on West bound Side of US 40 and RT 4 just west of RT 68 west of Springfield. Single axle/possible late 50 or early 60's i think. didnt have time to stop.Good Luck
