cooking on the engine

I have recently bought some old 1950's 1960's RV magazines.
There ware some articles about cookijng on the hot engine of the car.
Basicly wrap the things you wat to be cooked in tinfoil an lpace then on the intake mainifold when driving.
And start in the morning and you would have a nice hot lunch a few hour later.
Has any one treyd this and with what result

hot meals

Yea, we use to do it all the time back in the 80's when I was in the Army. We would take our Mre (Meals Ready To Eat) packets and place them on the intake of our Humvees. By lunch time It would be nice and hot on a cold winter day. Never figured out how to make those darn dehydrated beef patties taste good.

Here are a couple of links on the topic:

Although I haven't tried it myself.

me too!

Wrap it up tight and hit the road. I only used it for heating up things...not cooking...but it was perfect. Ahhhh, those were (are) the days. Do you have access to Texas BBQ in the Netherlands? Nothing better than a 270 Chevy heated Rack of BBQ ribs and Chicken. I know you have the beer.

Now that I think of it, I heated up Pizza too.

I used to reheat my lunches while driving my truck. Wrap the cooked meat in foil, then place on their respective roll, bread, or hot sauce. Those can soups heat up nicely. Be careful when opening them. I always did it outside, then pour it into a bowl. The top of a V-8 engine works great. I've lost a couple of meals when I first tried it on a straight 6 engine.
