I went with the fill width on the back bumper - reflective white and red - that sucker lights up when hit by some head lights!

Along with the BRIGHT LED tail/stop/marker lights, you'd have to be almost blind to not see us...

f0g, nite driving, rain, HEAVY RAIN...

i tow in all sorts of adverse conditions.

and occasionally get LOST just walking around in an rv park.

the reflective tape is visible quickly and easily with any small flashlight...

so it makes FINDING my hut easy.
________

on 2nd thought, no it's useless, don't anyone else tape up their trailers...

cheers

I've towed in enough fog and mist to put full width reflective tape on my bumper. It is piece of mind.

I have been pushing the use of reflective tape for years. IMO, no Airstream made has enough reflective surface as it comes from the factory. I published the idea, with photos, in Airstream Life years ago.

I first added the tape to aid in visibility when I noticed that the Airstream, when parked in front of my house overnight, was not obvious because of the angle of headlights on the curving, hilly road.

Virtually every rig in my unit now has reflective tape. At a rally, driving up a row of our rigs at night is a real light show. A lot of friends have installed strips just below the rear window, in line with the tail lights as well as strips on the bumper.

I will observe that there is silver reflective tape available, that would blend in better with the aluminum during the daytime. At night it looks more or less the same as the white tape. There is also tape that is black under diffuse daytime illumination but which reflects yellow at night.

Just saying.

I decided that I would go with the red and white DOT approved tape on the bumper drawer. I checked out the reflectiveness of the black and it is not as bright, although looks better during the day.
To get the good stuff is the trick. I noticed that all of the auto places and some truck stops I stopped at carry a poor to middle quality tape at high prices.
So for you guys thinking about buying the good tape. 3M makes one that is a Diamond Series #981. I found it at Redneck Trailer Supplies. They have an online site, but I was able to buy it local in 18 inch strips 2 inches wide, very reasonable prices too.

What is that on Mexray's trailer? Is there a reflective or fluorescent material that goes in the lower trim in place of the rubber strip?

Like MEXRAY and others on this Forum, I added the red and white tape across the entire width in '04. I purchased it at an auto supply store and it's looking just as it did the day it was installed. A tiny bit of light and it lights up big time!

I've added a string of rope lights on each side of the AS - they are powered behind the Propane tanks, and end together below the lic plate in the rear - hence our AS's name - Blue Halo...

Looks great, but beware some states may consider blue lights all around illegal. zz

Not a trailer but the reflective tape is very effective.

We put white/red reflector tape sections end-to-end across the top of our bumper... (purchase at Harbor Freight)...

This is leaving Yosemite on Tioga Road last July, by the way...
