Classified Scams or Not?

I have been looking for a 28, 30 or 34 foot airstream for a while, using Craigslist, here (recently) and other forums. I have encountered some sort of scam, or there is a curious trend.
I am now up to my 9th incident where a woman wants to sell her Airstream, husband just died two months ago from heart attack, she and child moved to another city, and she is selling RV thru an eBay shipping company. One other variation was an Air force civilian worker from Nebraska, got a job in Alaska, RV is in VA, 2 hours from me, but I can't look at it.
If not a scam, airstream are causing heart attacks and making widows.
Whether scam or stupid coincidences, I merely reply that if I cannot look at RV, pay cash, sign title and drive away, I am not interested.
I just needed to rant a bit.

Anytime there is a sob story, or not in the country, needs to use e-mail, no phone, wire transfer only, or they send you a link that looks like Paypal, but isn't, Ebay protection, trailer at a storage yard or broker, you have five days to decide when the trailer arrives to get a refund. really need to sell, way too good of a price (it's a steal); it's a scam.

They try to appeal to your greed by wanting a steal of a deal.

If it's too good to be true, it's not real, there is no trailer, and that deposit to secure that steal of a deal is gone. That's all they are really looking for, not the full amount for the trailer, as that just gets too much attention; just the deposit of $500- 1,000. People are just more likely to write that off to experience than get the feds involved.

FYI Don't ever advertise that you are looking for something on the internet. You will get inundated with people that have just what you want for an incredible price. My buddy got taken for $800 cash that he sent in the mail for an item that he just needed to have; and that guy had he didn't, but he ended up with my buddies cash.

Per Mare, Per Terram and may all your campaigns be successful.

Use Airstream Forum Classifieds or Facebook Marketplace where you can research our potential sellers profiles.

Lots of suckers in this world. All it takes is a couple for the scum to make a living.

Do you know what a learning experience is? A learning experience is one of those things that says "You know that thing that you just did? Don't do that."
