Lucky You, Robert Cross!!!...having the family '53 Ford Victoria.
My father had bought a new '53 Customline Sedan, two tone green. Then in '57 I bought my first car...a Seafoam green '53 Customline Club Coupe and my brother bought a '53 Victoria, coral and white. I think I had paid $600 for it when it was 4 years old.

Love the history. You are very fortunate to have the pics to go with. I'm jealous.
Got any more?

Great photos. Sweetheart car - you realize of course just how lucky you are to have that one in your possession.
The father/son photo is great. It's hard now adays for a lot of parents to find something that is relevant to both themselves and their kids so when it comes along they have to grab it and hold on. Going to a car show is a good one.
Just pulled out some pictures last night of a '56 Merc Meteor 2dr hdt I could have had relatively cheap but I can't remember for the life of me why I didn't buy it. Now, of course, I look and smack my forehead thinking what an idiot I was. One owner car, ran well and was extremely well taken care of and he was asking $1,500 and I didn't snap it up. He even called and asked if I was sure before he let it go to someone else because he knew from my others cars that I'd take good care of it. Put me down as idiot of the year for that one. A friend called for the pictures as he is going to look at one described as the same car this week. As expected the price has inflated dramatically.

I enlarged the photo and it appears that there are only three digets, so it was 99.9 cents or less. Can't read the price either.

Almost complete
This is out and running now - our 59 Buick Electra mated to a 75 Chevrolet 2wd Suburban trailering special with a rebuilt 454. I can't wait to hook onto the 58 Sovereign of the Road this spring.

That's cool, did you drop the Buick on the Burb Frame? Should be a great
TV.
Congrats on the post!

Rob, the Buick looks great. My father took me to many car shows when I was younger and I have a great affection for the classics. I am currently in the market for a vintage TV. I have a few older cars ('68 Charger, '39 Chevy coupe, '34 Ford roadster chassis,'64 Porsche 356 C cab) but think that an old station wagon would be great. Just waiting for the economy to drive down prices a little more. Look forward to meeting you at CBR as April & I listen to the VAP religiously.

Electurban
Yes, we dropped the 59 Buick Electra onto the 75 Suburban chassis. No frame cut was required. Rear axle had to move about 4 inches, that's it. So, we're now all GM Chevy Suburban for our running gear, with all the 59 Buick inside. Should be fun and a head turned when hooked in combo. We've rebuilt the 454 and the body work to the Electurban will occur this spring.

Neat project Rob. The lower centre of gravity will be a benefit for handling compared to the burb.
When I got back into RVing a few years ago I was going to redo an older Burb. Lower the whole vehicle, build up a big V8, etc and buy an Airstream. Changed my mind because of the fuel consumption issue but would have been a good project.

Neat conversion Rob. My buddies had a '59 Buick Convert until five years ago. It was getting to the point where the body was in need of extensive repair, but it was still looking decent, so they sold it. Since it's been completely restored.
Yours will look stunning with an Airstream in tow.
Man, we've got Caddies, Chargers, Buicks, Fords and Pontiacs - too bad we couldn't get them with their Airstreams all in one place some time. That would be a real hoot.
The sixties Suburbans are really good looking TV's when freshened. I've seen some outstanding jobs done on them and they too are often popped onto later frames. S10 is the usual frame with a V8 upgrade to that chassis.
This is a great thread.

Neat car Mike.
You are one of the few who had the foresight to hang on to their cars for so long. It's fun to know the history of your car and relevant to this crowd, that it came from a fellow Airstream lover.

Bought in 1980 in Wyoming for $400.00 and used as my daily driver for over 24 years. First 14 years of ownership concentrated on mechanical while using it. Then came the cosmetics. 1955 First series Chevy pickup. Sold it and it now lives in Chicago area.
