Canna Camping

I'm not implying anything here and have never used the stuff.

When they legalized recreational pot here in Colorado, I starting thinking about the effects it would have on tourism and the problems associated with the conflicts between state and federal law. Most of the ski areas are on federal land with different rules that have been ignored by shredders for years. Boulder seems to be inundated with transient, panhandling, homeless, canna campers. Colorado plates seem to be a license to search by bordering state police. The Nebraska state police are reported to be targeting cars driven into the state by cars filled with college kids. The Colorado SP have filed a law suit to get a judge to formally direct them on which laws to ignore.

I did see that the U.S. open in Washington State was pot friendly.

Looks like it's going to start effecting the availability of camp sites in Colorado. Just some fun facts on Colorado!

Hello from Boulder!
(We should organize a Boulder meetup.)
Random thoughts.

I have a client that has a (large) house in Frisco. They have it on VRBO as a rental. In 2014, they amended their VRBO listing to be pot-friendly, and their rent revenue went up 50% (I've seen their tax returns, they're not exaggerating)

Interestingly, I've not noticed an increase in pot use at CO campsites.

Full disc - I'm not a user, but enthusiastically support the legalization. Mostly because the war on drugs is silly.

Hey, guys.

This kind of chatter here will get you in deep doo-doo with the mods.

I would delete your posts, both of you, and cease and desist.

Seriously,

Maggie

I seriously hope nobody gets in deep doo doo for discussing ( not condoning ) a state law, that could have ill effects on the camping experience.

Well, I just know there is a no drug discussion policy here.

Not my decision, and I don't care....just don't like to see people get suspended.

I've said it, and am done.

Actually there is no rule against drug discussion and if the topic is relative to RV'ing then the subject would be no different than weapons, religion, or politics. With the legalization of certain drugs in some states it is not as though you are discussing illegal activities.

These topics are allowed per the CR's, as long as this thread stays on course and does not deteriorate into a name calling bash-fest you may post away. Stay on topic though!

Before you kill the messenger, I think it's helpful for people to understand the implications of this new law as it relates to bringing your family to camp in Colorado. We noticed continuous patrols during our rally at Cheyenne Mt. I noticed them constantly harassing some groups of tent campers. The ranger said they were having to keep the drug use in check by aggressively enforcing entrance and camping permits.

I'm waiting to see how this continues to effect our campgrounds.

Sorry if this is a violation of the forum rules. I'll just ban myself!

Hmmmm. I understood that completely wrong.

Thanks for the correction.

Within hours of posting yesterday, we had a smoke alarm in the aft lav on the aircraft. I had to have some kid with a skateboard arrested. He though he could fire one up and blow the smoke down the toilet. Nearly had to divert into Salt Lake.

If anyone has seen this thread you will understand why we take smoke alarms so seriously!

Most smoke smells bad to me.

Cigar smoke smells the worst to me. Sandlewood has a nice aroma, and I burned a downed tree ( maybe sassafras, dunno??? ) that smelled great.

As far as "practicing their vice openly"….I can put up with " smokers" more than I can put up with most drinkers. As far as legality, if it became legal, I wonder if it would change peoples ability to tolerate.

OOpps….looks like somebody deleted their post

Goodness. Some people.....

Dumb question. DO you have cuffs on board and cuff them for the rest of the flight?

We just divert to the nearest suitable airport and have law enforcement deal with them on the ground.

Colorado doesn't need to worry about me or my family spending a dime in their state. So many other nice places to go!

There are many nice things to see and do in Colorado! It saddens many of us Coloradans that the state now draws the pot culture. As more states legalize pot the draw will diminish.
