We've lived in Florida twice. Once while working and then in 07 when we retired. We chose not to live in metro area but more rural Citrus county. We love it here and evacuation is no problem if necessary. We wouldn't evacuate only if a hurricane was above a category 3 or higher. Heat and humidity could be a challenge if you don't like heat. Medical care is fantastic and shopping is convenient. Disney is 1.5 hours and Daytona 2 hours. It really works well for us and air conditioning handles the heat and humidity with no problem. No income tax is a plus. Visited Arizona but chose Florida.
