They're adults, let them deal with their own poor decisions. Especially since they decided to start removing things and getting rid of them.Everyone makes mistakes in life and most you just have to deal with. I agree that they signed the contract, it's theirs. They can now put it up for sale if they don't want it. Unless... there was a clause in the contract that said that you would bail them out should they have a change of mind.... Not

The enthusiastic new owners were anxious and excited upon delivery of their "new toy." The excitement soon wore off though as tonight they phoned wanting to know if I would buy it back. I have no problem in giving them their money back. BUT, they have removed the original stereo and 8-track, all speakers, the twin bed frames, supports and bins, and the monitor panel in the front overhead and DISCARDED them. My question is, "How much does this lower the value?" I'm really steamed over their haste to remove and discard without thinking the whole process through. Please give me your advice, "What would you do in this situation?"
Let them keep it. They've had possession for a while, long enough to strip parts out of it. I think this is about as far from a buy-back situation as there is.

Even if they had not removed parts, if they possesed it for any length of time, I'd say no.

My only inclination to buy back would be if I had overlooked a major problem which came to light shortly after the sale. (Lets say I had represented the floor as sound, but a later check revealed rot).

Silverhobby,
Politely wash your hands of this matter. You were more than above board in pointing out any items that were not functioning and the trailer was sold AS IS! If they need suggestions as to how to refurbish the trailer then by all means point them in the right direction. It sounds like they might have changed their minds or felt that they have bitten off more than they can chew but that is not your fault. Even if they could put everything back together like it was when you sold it to them, I would not take it back because there is no guarantee they did it right.

I think once you've sold it, it's the buyer's to do as he wishes. I would not want to buy it back, especially when it's in an altered condition. Don't look back, but move on forward to better things!

How arrogant can you get. If it had not been touched, possibly. But after what they did to it, NO WAY!

It's Theirs

Hi group and thanks for all the comments. As far as I know, they are OK with all things and are going to keep it. We made the deal on a price that was fair for condition and I AM moving on. Brought home a 1973 26' Avion Travelcader today!

UPDATE !! The "happy couple" sold the AS to someone in FL. I hope it goes to a family that will appreciate it.
