-20˚ in Angel Fire! Lynn, I envy you so. It was only 0˚ here this morning. I remember my first winter in Colorado when temps were from -20 to -30˚ in December. It felt warm and toasty when the temp would go up to -5˚ in the afternoon. I'm not making that up—you can get used to it—especially the dry cold.
Since we've been back almost two weeks ago from the south, I'm getting used to the cold again and maybe should go to Angel Fire to fully acclimate.
We may even get snow this weekend—there's only been about 6" and that happened about a month ago.

Better not get snow this weekend. We're driving up to Colo Springs for the DenCo thing, leaving here muchos early and back late tomorrow evening. Wouldn't go if snow were in the forecast!

Well, my original title of "Global What?" was meant as a jab at the scientists, not the politicians, though God knows they deserve it too.
My point of it, if you follow science, was that these Global Warming theorists are the same scientists who, 20 years ago, said that the Earth was headed for another ice age soon.
Irony is a wonderful tool, when it's appreciated.
I could really care less about the politicians who jump on the first bandwagon they see their peers on.
BTW, it's not a Republican vs Democrat thing.....there are just as many of one as there are of the other who believe the whole Global Warming myth.
Me, I'm just happy we got snow. Like I said, it reminded me of home, if but for just a few hours....it's almost all melted now but still cold as hell.

Sting,
Your storm is headed up to Virginia by tomorrow at noon, just in time to "decorate" our State semi-final football game! Gotta get out my polypropylene longjohns for that one (and 23F tomorrow nite...)
As a schoolteacher I must STRONGLY protest you sending it up here on a weekend...you could at least do it during the week! ( I feel strongly that snow days are the MAIN "state benefit" derived from teaching 132 highschoolers every day.....!) Bring 'em on!
Canoe...love that eagle! I have watched an eaglecam from Shepardstown, WV for the last 5 years. ..the only kind I have on my property are red/golden eagles...but I love 'em all!

Well, Susan, maybe it'll take its time getting there and hit you guys hard by Sunday night.
Here are the pics from this morning...
on edit: I feel I should clarify my phrase Global Warming....while I do believe that there is such a thing, I also believe in Global Cooling. Scientifically I don't think that man really had much to do with the warming. The Earth goes through warming and cooling cycles. One thing is for certain, the Earth has survived massive meteorite hits and it will survive from the crap we've been dumb enough to do to it, long after we're extinct, as a species.

mid to high 60s yesterday; mid to high 50s today....
Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening
by Robert Frost
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

That is a great poem; I had to learn it by heart, when I was in 4th grade.

GW.....I'm past the age of worrying about it.
....as long as it's warm enough to dig the hole when it's time...
