I have been using the corp. campgrounds since 1998.All the corp. campgrounds have been excellent. The BLM are new to me. This year I stayed 7 weeks in New Mexico. If you can find BLM,they are nice .It is worth the trouble to find them.

Our "Hands Down Favorites" are all Corps of Engineer Campgrounds. Top of the list is Piney Grove near Dennis MS, just off of the Natchez Trace.

We stayed at a Corps campground in Texarkana and during registration, overheard the hosts discussing how rundown the place was the cleanest place we had stayed in the last 1400 miles/17 days during our Mississippi to Montana run

Ok, for twice the price, we have stayed at some pretty good state and private campgrounds.

Here is correct link.

Very surprised I wasn't able to edit my previous post. Must be severely time limited - most forums give at least 24 hours to edit. Would appreciate it if administrator could delete or edit post #15. Thanks.

I think you will find that BLM camping in southern Utah gets better the farther away from Moab you get. The Moab camp scene used to be great, and free, as recently as the 80's, but now the area serves just plain too many people, especially for the spring break period. Good for their cash registers, bad for folks trying to get away from it all. That said, it is of course one of the most scenic places in the US, well worth visiting, and you'll be able to practice your German and French too.
