For those of you looking for a custom fit bike rack for an Airstream, this is it. It mounts to the front A frame of the trailer and mounts the bikes over the propane tanks. I have used it on two trips and it is very solid and secure.
The brackets can adapt to the varying widths and heights of Airstream frames and bolt on easily. A support post is fitted in the bracket to support the rack. The rack fits over the posts and tightens down with thumbscrews. A third adjustable support mounts to the jack post on the front.
The rack has two wheel tracks to lash down the tires. Support arms extend from the upper brace to clamp down and lock the cross tube on the bikes. It’s all very tight and secure. I throw a long cable around it all to lock it together for security.
When camping, simply loosen the three thumbscrews and the rack lifts off so you can open the front window.
For those of you without pick-up trucks or front hitch mounts, this works great. I tow with a VW Touareg so it was either this or roof rack. This isn’t as high to lift and don’t have to worry about scratching the paint. I tried hauling the bikes inside the trailer and found it inconvenient and dirty with trail bikes.
mojo, Thanks for sharing this bike rack information. I had never seen one of this design. I have seen home made versions of this though. This looks like a quality product for the AS trailer.
After reviewing the website, is your setup custom? I didn't see anything close to what you have on the website. Can you give more particulars on how you ordered your setup? What series, etc.

WOW!!! You just solved a dilemna for us!!!!!!!! Thank-you! We have been struggling with a roof mounted bike rack on the top of our F250 (you need stilts just to get the bikes on/off!).
Glad to see a forum member has got one of these. Now you can add to the review I did on it last year- It's under the "hitches", no where else to put it. Also was the price $490. US?

Nice looking bike rack, I have a set-up that I used on my 2004 Bambi, (sorry no pictures) a bar bolts on the back bumper with a 2' receiver in the center, which accepts a bike rack for 2 or 4 bikes, I wanted to use it on my 2008, 23', but is short by 2", the bar is 59' long, I've seen it listed in the parts catalog from Airstream of Arkansas for $300.00, anyone interested can have it for $150.00 or BO, I can still use the bike rack on the family car, but would sell it for $75.00, I will be leaving Arkansas and heading East on 4/15, so if you are on my route we could meet up! 870 405 6566

Yes doorgunner, you got me started. Searched for a while until I found this small company in Canada. I approached them about having a rack to fit an Airstream, so he went and researched how to make a univeral fit for all trailer sizes. So yes it started out as kind of custom, waited for about 5 months until he perfected them, and now they are available for all airstreams. We both thought it would be a good market since we can't hang bilkes off the rear bumper. It is the 7000 AF and it retailed for $481 US including shipping to FL. He's in Montreal and very accomodating. Give a call if interested. They work great.
