In terms of SOPs, we also consider that if some interior function is essential, we try to have a back-up for it because we do like to boondock in the boonies. We had problems with our battery life till last year, and decided to pack extra camping lamps. For cooking, a gas backpacker's stove or extra food that is good cold, spare sleeping bags in case the furnace conks out, &c. Duct tape and wire came in really handy once when the latch broke on our awning.

Dunno about Meyers-Briggs. Seems sort of Type A to me to assign people to fixed personality-type boxes.

I agree with the last statement.

A far as being prepared for failures, my backup is to be sure the truck and hitch are working, so I can get the heck out of there if stuff starts to fail.

But as you were saying ...

Some practices that work for us:
1. Budget time so you can take the two lane road instead of the interstate, and stop at the fruit stand, historical marker, town square and community barbecue.
2. Make reservations at the destination stops, but take what comes between them.
3. Avoid eating out unless it's a memorable place or time - save dollars and calories.
4. Spend as much time as possible outside. Go places where that's possible. Take a good walk every day.
5. Stop driving early enough to set up, clean up, and have a cocktail or glass of wine before dinner.
6. Keep a notebook with notes to your future self about preferred campsite numbers, successful dutch oven recipes, repairs, people you met and places you went. You will refer to it often!
7. Load your smartphone with helpful applications: CostCo gas finder; Woodall's camp directory; PBS station finder; weather; MapQuest; and of course AirForums!

We like redundancy in critical areas ... food, water, power / fuel, etc ...

Maggie, I'm in the Poconos and I think of you every time I do dishes. BTW, I am free-forming.....no reservations at any campgrounds, just taking it a day a time. Wonderful change from my usual structured way of life!
