We retired end of 2010. Can not believe we are now Nov. We have spent the spring to fall months traveling. Going a week, come home reload and leave again,. To date our biggest expense has been the gas, as we have been boondocking and natl forests. Winterized this week but if the weather clears will take off again. You will totally enjoy your freedom. Go out there and enjoy and flash your lights when you pass another AS on the road. Susan

Let's see now. On the occasion of Richard's retirement, perhaps we should create a list of the tangible benefits of retirement, things easily overlooked or forgotten. (Since memory starts to fade about this same time, it's nice to have things in writing.)

Here's one: At age 62, you can apply for a senior pass from the National Parks Service. (I've got a little less than three months to go before this one.)

CONGRATULATIONS!!

We've been retired just over 4 years, now, and it's like having a whole, new life.

You will love it.

Safe travels,

Maggie

Congrats!

It's a wonderful life -- we're so fortunate to be there.

One of my favorite little things about it is Sunday night.

Best regards,
Debbie

We are at Distant Drums RV Resort in Camp Verde, AZ this morning. We have 14 Airstreams here now and we expect another dozen or more to show up today. Last night a large group had dinner at the Casino across the road.

It's party time!

Welcome to the good life. Agree with Andy on finding time to do all the stuff you "put off 'til retirement"! See you down the road.

Party on....

The first thing I did was tear up the honey-do list. There's time for all that -- and fun too.

Congratulations Richard!

Congrats Richard!

Funny thing this week...I went to renew my Drivers License and realized that my next renewal is due after my planned retirement date.

Not that I'm counting down or anything...but I can tell you the # of months, days, hours, minutes and seconds...

Now your full time job is to send photos from cool camping locations.

Way to go Richard. Now, instead of racking up work days, you'll be racking up the travel miles. Enjoy your new schedule, oh sorry, you don't have one! Hope to see everyone tomorrow at DD.

Congrrats, Richard. Be sure to remember to keep the chore list down and keep some blocks of time free so you can travel.

Happy trails. Pat

Retirement

Richard,

Congratulations! My wife and I both retired last summer, July 31st to be exact and we hit the road on August 7th for about a three month road trip.

I had actually retired about 10 years ago but continued to work in little jobs to stay busy while I waited for the wife to pull the plug.

We found it was almost a necessity to hit the road and start the road trip. It gave my wife a distinct break in her life. I think if we'd just stayed home it would have been too hard for her to really know she was retired. We spoke of that often in the trip and if we had to do it over again we'd do the exact same thing.

It's a joy to wake up in the morning and know you can add another week to the trip, you can drive back roads at 45 mph and not have to get on the interstate to get home in time.

Enjoy!!!

Congratulations on your new life. Happy travels.
I am 24 months from my magic date after 34 years in aerospace.
I hope I'll be able to make it, it is very different now a days.
Best of luck to you
