Be alert, it's December.

Hi, I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a joyous holiday season. This is also a time when many people are stressed out. People buy presents for friends and family that sometimes they really can't afford. People celebrate too much. [alcohol Etc.] People for many reasons that we don't really know are having problems. I say this, not to ruin anyones Holidays, but to know and accept that there will be more careless or thoughtless drivers on the roads all through the rest of the year. There will also be more crime, mostly theft. [purse snatching and presents stolen from parked cars] I have noticed this for several decades and more so than any other time of year, you/we all need to be alert and aware of our surroundings.

Debit Cards

Sadly you are correct.
Just last week a fellow co-worker and close friend of mine was buying Xmas presents for his grandkids via internet. He was using his banking/debit card online for the purchases. This was on a Friday. The following Monday he checked the status of his bank account and he was
negative 166 dollars.
Over the weekend someone had stolen his identity and clean out thousands of dollars from his account and the bank didnt even catch it.

I first hand witnessed the emotional stress this person was going through for the past week. It was a very sad deal.

Luckily, the the criminal scumb bag wasnt so smart, he made a large purchase for a small dirt bike and the company he ordered it from wouldnt deliver the package to the person who ordered it they would only send it to the name on the card holder. So they sent the dirt bike to my friends home address with all the criminals information: Name, address, email, and phone number.

So he turned it over to the police and order was restored. Just yesterday the bank returned all the stolen money to his account and he's a happy man again and his grandkids will have a Merry Xmas.

Moral of this very true story, be very careful with you bank information when purchasing items for you loved ones.

Have a safe and Merry Christmas !

Well stated,
Although my wife and I are Christians, we do not celebrate Christmas and havent for 41 years now. Surprisingly there are many who do not but we indeed feel the pressure in our society to do so. What a relief not to worry about the pressures of gift giving and all that goes with the over the top commercialism surrounding Christmas. One can really appreciate the joy of the birth of Christ and all that it has meant for humanity without getting hyped up with all the trappings of Christmas. I am reminded, after all, that the wise men gave their gifts to the newly born king, Christ, and not to each other. Sort of changes the thinking a little bit for me anyway.
