I was a Pirate fan when I was a kid back in the 50s and 60s. Roberto Clemente was (and still is) the greatest. No one was better at 2nd base turning the pivot than the Maz (Bill Mazeroski). And of course ... he was the first player to win the World Series with a home run in 1960.
Enjoyed Willie Stargell and Dave Parker during the Lumber & Lightning and "We Are Family" days ...as well as Barry Bonds & Bobby Bonilla ... the Killer Bees!
I had the good fortune to have breakfast with Bonds in San Diego during his last season with the Pirates ... sat right across the table from him. He was pleasant ... but certainly in his own zone ... he pretty much ignored me. I was glad he didn't spit on me.
Don't really have a favorite team anymore ... but I do enjoy following certain players around the league.

That home run in 60 broke my heart. I was lucky enough to have a friend who's grandfather gave him his box seat tickets for all the week day games in the early 60's. Two rows from the field, even with 3rd base. I watched Mantle and Maris going for the home run title in 61. Still love the Yankees.

Or almost any other NL West team. If the pitcher doesn't bat it ain't Baseball!

I agree with the DH comments….It’s good for a pitcher to get brushed back at the plate once in a while. The All Star game deciding home field advantage for the World Series is one of the worst baseball decisions made in recent years....

AMEN,
I wonder what Roger Clemens record would be if he had to stand in the batter's box.

It would probably be pretty good. The few times I've seen him at bat, he's actually done quite well....
I watched the All-Star game last night...funny, I don't remember seeing a single pitcher pick up a bat...in a national league park, at that. Hmmm...

I was refering to his pitching record. You are right about his ability with a bat. Since joining the Astros, he has impressed me with his swing. I also don't really "hate" anybody, but Giants-Dodger,Yankee-Red Sox,Chicago-St. Louis, etc.fans know what I mean. I hope I didn't offend anyone.
Although I love a good ballgame, Baseball is still just a mindless diversion from the real problems in life we all face.

An interesting stat in the latest round of AL vs NL other than the AL winning the series decisively was that the AL pitchers outbatted the NL pitchers.
I grew up in a AAA minor league city (Indianapolis Indians) so my favorite teams was the Cleveland Indians because so many Indy players matriculated there. I was also a Cincinnati Reds fan. Today, the Minnesota Twins.
