Bambi has been sold !

Hi Forum Folk!

It's been a while since I have posted on the open forums. Many of you know the reasons for this, but I thought that I should make this one, last announcement.

My '06 19CCD 'Rivets' has been sold. Rest assured that it has gone to a very good home!

After much thought, consideration and searching, the Bambi has been replaced with a 1996 Beaver 33' Patriot diesel pusher motor home. No slides, simple and straight forward. It is sound mechanically but it need of an interior make-over, which will take place over the next year. I expect that results to be nothing short of spectacular!

There were several major reasons for this change, but the main consideration was the need to TOW my '04 Sprinter service van with me. This will allow me to work on the myriad, complex systems found on today's RV's, primarily the luxury motor home segment, with all of my tools and gizmos available to me while on the road in the summer. The motor home will provide me with a better base from which to work.

I'll still be 'lurking in the background' of these Forums, sending PMs to some of you that might need a little professional advise with a problem or project. As always, feel free to PM me with specific questions that you may have at any time. My 10 years of RV experience, training, education and certification are always available. I'll always have a special place in my heart for Airstreamers. You are a great bunch!

Thanks for the ride. See you in the shadows.

Lew

Lew, it makes perfect sense. You're one of the best in the business.
I knew a few years ago when we met that you were a cut above typical RV techs and that is why I'm not surprised you are working on the complex busses. I've had no choice but to learn them too and its been interesting and rewarding. I even have one too now but will be an Airstreamer like you forever.
Good luck and keep in touch friend.

Understand the need to make things right.

How about some pics of the rig set up for the road ('home & sprinter)?

I have been reliant on your comments made from experience, and appreciated the insights offered.

Thanks Rednax,

The beast is pretty rough right now, but I will get a few shots when the new 'duo' is ready for the road.

Maybe folks will find some of the many modifications I am planning useful in their own projects.

Lew

Thanks for all your help in designing my "power board" to carry the six volt batteries and the converter/inverter in the back of my truck. Nice to have an RV expert whose advice you can just go with in confidence.

Ditto--what Roger and Craig said. Once an Airstreamer always an Airstreamer----I don't think you can just get out---unless you pay the price---both thumbs broken!

As a matter of fact, when you get back to Hood River, PM me---I have an awning problem that I would like to have you look at. You are still the Zip Dee man aren't you?

The awning you sold me for the Airstream still works fine. The awning on the 1987 Bluebird Wanderlodge that I just bought is the one that I have a problem with.

Thanks Bob---Now a two motorhome family!!!

Glad to hear from you, Lew - as far as the "rough" condition, go ahead and post pix (inveterate voyeuers as we are) so we can cheer you on as you progress.

See you on the road - Pat

Lew,
I want to see the Beaver. I did a quick search and all I find are the newer (98 seems common) longer ones. Hope to see you sometime this summer for a solar install on our motorhome.

Sounds like a '60's sitcom.. ("My three son's"?).. I'd like to see the Beav too! And of course, the build up...
Nice hearing from you Lew!

For a diesel motor home, it's kind of 'cute' in a way. I full-timed in a 40 footer for 5 years, and this has almost the same layout, but a much shorter wheel base, which makes it very maneuverable.

Original condition shots soon..........
