I'm currently living full time in my airstream in Pensacola, FL but am planning on moving up to Charlotte,NC in several months once I get out of the Marines. I'm planning on moving in with my girlfriend who lives in Charlotte, but as we both love traveling in the airstream I will keep it.
We both love the Asheville area and are looking into buying 1-5 acres of land within about 20 minutes of the Asheville area that we can put the airstream on during the summer and maybe several years down the road build a vacation house. We just started looking but would need land that already had power and water hooked up so we could put the airstream on it during the summer. We like to get away from other people so privacy is a must and no restrictions like a HOA group that doesn't like RV trailers on the lots.
Has anyone done something like this before in the Asheville area or have any advice for the process of doing this?
Our son's in-laws own a small campground near Lake Lure, which is about 45 minutes from Asheville. They offer inexpensive monthly rates, you could rent a spot for your trailer for a couple of months, see if you like the area, and be nearby to scout any spots.
