What can all you nice people tell me about Avions? Problems, strenfths, etc? How about values? The only thing I could turn up in a wbcrawler search was this site: http://my.execpc.com/~drg/avionfsw.html
Any and all information would be appreciated!
I have the feeling from seeing a handful of pictures they are near kin to airstreams? Kinda like Argosys?

Elizabeth,
Whole seperate company, similar construction, unfortunately got bought out by Fleetwood Industries and run into the ground and out of business. There are some former and current owners here on this board that will chime in shortly. I have looked at a few of the early 70's unit and was very impressed with the quality of the construction. But IIRC they were pretty heavy.
Do a forum search under Avion and you will see not only the site you mentioned but 2 others, one of which is another forum for Avion restorers.

Yeah, that's me, dum, dum, dum! Hollering for help first, then doing a search! Egads! Did I indicate how dumb that is? Really, really, DUMB!
I should know by now to do the search, then ask any pertinet questions remaining.....
Thanks for the reminder, but I've been crashing around reading all I can find since I made that DUMB post on Avions.... and finding quite a bit, too!

My folks bought one brand new back in 1976.
They're very classy trailers. Construction is very good.
One of the things I like better than Airstreams,....They did'nt use all the plastic in their interiors. The cabinets are very high quality wood, and actually alittle nicer than my wood cabinets in the airstream.
They may weigh alittle more than an airstream, but they tow very well, just like we're accustomed to.
Another thing they had over Airstream, (in my opinion), is they did'nt put that "Clear Coat" over the aluminum.
You know how BAD that looks after a few years when it starts peeling.
I'm dealing with that issue right now on my airstream....
Take a look at my post over in "Exterior Restorations". ha!
The exterior finish is sort of a "Satin Type" finish. It always looks clean and uniform, and never gets that awful peeling look !!
I think they're very good....my biggest concern was that they've been discontinued and I did'nt know about parts or component
availability. Maybe that's not a problem,..I just don't know.
