Sorry, must have been watching a different event that he was in. I think I saw him in the 1500 metre, and in that one he was hot, but did finish in the medals.

Way to go for the Silver though!

It was tough watching her come in second all things considered, however, my disappointment for her was tempered by the fact that team USA skier took the gold. You have to admit, that young lady did that final run to perfection.

Agree Gen... I saw the two ladies make their runs and it was my opinion the judging was right on. The Gold run was flawless!

Gold, silver, bronze... these athletes are all SO close in terms of 1/100 second times, subtle style points, etc., that they ALL need to be incredibly proud of their performances and accomplishments.

The heartbreakers aren't the ones that get silver or bronze, it the athlete giving it their all and having the unexpected wipe out that puts them out completely, or leaves them injured... or worse, like the Georgian luger who died in practice.

For all the athletes, their performance (whether first or last place) is the culmination of years of hard work, pain and personal sacrifice. I don't care who wins the medals as long as it's because they gave it their all and it was a fair competition!

Good luck to all athletes!

I knew an Olympian a few years ago. He was the best swimmer at SIU by a long stretch. At the Olympics, he looked like he was drowning in the pool compared to the other competitors. I asked him once, well after the event, what it was like competing in the Olympics. You should have seen his face light up. I can't even begin to imagine the feeling despite his telling me. Words fail. I envy all the kids who get that experience.
