Smile Anyone Traveling with Dialysis Machine?

Hello all,

Recently, while being worked up for a mechanical heart, the doctors managed to kill off my kidneys and now I am on Dialysis. I did not get the mechanical heart but I feel much better with the load off the heart from removing the extra fluid. I want to visit some national parks but the options for neaqrby dialysis is sometimes slim.

My dialysis center does not provied training on the home dialysis unit but I could go elsewhere to get the training.

Is traveling with a portable dialyzer?

If so, would you mind sharing your experience?

PM me if you prefer.

Thanks,

shermybaby

My wife is on dialysis and has to use the machine every night. This has not proved to be a difficult problem even on long vacations of a month or more. The need to carry the dialysis solutions does load my truck down but I can get deleveries of suppilies on the road where we are staying.

My brother mentioned about you to be aware that your skin is also called your 'third Kidney'...he told me to tell you to scrub yourself thoroughly when bathing and rub yourself good with a towel afterwards. He also said to air out your bed sheets -bedding pillow cases on a dailey basis, and sleep in oxygenated bedding. Hope this adds to your health! Bill

Thanks for the posts. I looked up some articles on the internet and learned quite a bit about the skin and its function as an organ of the body.

It seems like excercise is a really big key in staying healthy.

Thanks
