What is this "snow" of which you speak? Powder falling from the sky? What evil sorcery is this???

Hi, Salem, Oregon has been really crowded lately since hundreds of Canadians came to visit us.

By gum, I think he (she?) did! You've got a snow dog apparently!
Love the face!

Memories are being made.
Of the 410 miles to Santa Fe from home yesterday, almost 300 of them featured snow packed roads, slush, ice, ground blizzards, white outs and wet roads. I have hard, frozen ice all around my wheel wheels, running boards, bumpers and along the sides of the body. Every time we turn the wheel, it sounds like the rubber is going to be sheered off the tires. Nine hours of fun on the road. Trying to drive with white everywhere and glare through the thin clouds was even more fun. I thought my eyeballs were going to explode. We saw two trucks towing trailers yesterday—a 5th wheel and a canned ham. Good to know some people are crazier than we are. Only a trace of snow in Santa Fe—drought is worse here than at home.

Odors in the Breeze
There is a thread going now that I at first misread, and was about to post a reply, when I realized my mistake.
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f425...ze-132292.html
BUT, I can't just let this go.
We were travelling east through Wisconsin, and being lunch time we just pulled off on a wide area of the road, in beautiful farming area. Heather was busy at the stove when the local farmer, probably smiling ear to ear, drove right along the edge of the field with his liquid manure spreader and, ------- yes the breeze was blowing our way.
Not a very good lunch.

Another bad lunch was not experienced by us, but let your imagination run free:
We were driving down a remote highway—the Cassiar Highway from Yukon south into interior BC when we saw a bear running down the side of the road, going the same direction as us. He (or she) was unconcerned with us. Bears have amazing ability to smell food miles away.
A mile or two down the road was a couple who has set up a picnic table and chairs next to their truck by the side of the road. They were enjoying lunch.
For some reason, perhaps because we were laughing too much, we didn't stop and warn them. We never heard about anyone being eaten though.

Hopefully they saw the bear coming in time to pack and leave.

A quick note about bears.
Don't bother to try to outrun one (unless you can run faster than your partner?) as we personally witnessed this one casually bounding along the road on the shores of Muncho Lake, BC, at approximately 30 MPH.
We are returning from the Yukon when we caught up to this one.
He/she had nowhere to go but up the rock cut, and he/she never even slowed down while climbing, what was probably a 35% rough path, throwing up loose rocks like a teenager doing circles in the gravel school parking lot with his Dad's new pickup.

After watching this one run, I think best that I just lay down and say grace!

Ok. Packing up the picnic was optional. Getting in the truck was not. 😄
