Gene,

I have to mostly agree with your analysis of pro sports. Some years ago, I realized that it was totally silly to allow a bunch of millionaires playing a game to have any effect on how I feel. It actually took. I have fun watching the game but don't really care who wins. It's kind of like watching a craps table. The drama is great. Just don't be dumb enough to get involved.

If you think about it, football is much too barbaric and rough for millionaires to be playing anyway. Shouldn't it perhaps be the national croquet, lawn bowling, or perhaps squash league?

Maybe badminton or jacks would be more appropriate for the distinguished millionaire. In the early days of ESPN, they would cover anything to fill air time, so maybe it is time for the MSN—Millionaires' Sports Network. I'm sure there'll be time for dog shows and the Calaveras Frog Jumping Contest. Carry on, chaps.

After carrying this lunch bucket many years of my working life, I just couldn't discard it. I needed another storage box for the tiedown straps on my utility trailer that I have re-rigged to carry the FiL's electric scooter.

Never throw anything away that you might be able to put to future use. And it's alumiuium with rivets!

Worth $55 on the collector market?

Dave,

The "lunch bucket" should be on everyone's bucket list. But…

That "lunch bucket" looks like some sort of contraption of possibly evil intent. Are those two white circles where the death ray comes out?

That is a venerable lunch bucket. Definitely vintage, could be worth a bit of money....

Newfoundland Birthday

Some of you may actually remember this? I am not sure that I do remember the day, but certainly, it was a great day for NEWFOUNDLAND and CANADA.

Today we celebrate the 65th anniversary of the province, now known as Newfoundland and Labrador, joining confederation March 31st, 1949.

It is once again an excuse for Canadians to celebrate. And, this will be a good excuse this year to travel to "the rock" to see the fantastic beauty of this Atlantic Province.

Below is the Provincial Flag you will see on arrival to this east coast adventure.

Just for you folks from the south, here is some history of your past contribution to this area.

http://www.heritage.nf.ca/law/us_pres.html

These are areas you might want to make a point to visit and talk to folks about stories from the past.

Canada takes control of Alaska

Canada takes control of Alaska --------------.

This is another anniversary (68th) that Western Canada celebrates.

April 4, 1946: Canada takes control of Alaska Highway with pomp and ceremony

Note: that Canada had paid the U.S. $77 million for almost everything of permanent value — apart from the highway, in addition to the $22 million it had spent herself.

That's a Ralph-Kramden sized lunchbox!

I'd keep it. Suits the Airstream bus.

That lunch box carried many a meal in it that included:

Fried egg and Armstrong Cheddar cheese on Multi for breakfast,

Canned Spring Salmon and Cheddar Cheese on homemade multi grain bread sandwiches for lunch,

And Roast Beef/Pork and Cheddar Cheese on Multi for dinner, along with the usual bananas and apples, etc.

Good Cheese makes the world go round!

Gee, Massey Dave, only a B.C'er would appreciate Armstrong cheese.

I couldn't agree more; a sandwich with multi-grain bread and some kind of cheese is the perfect meal. Was the favourite food of the Teflon Don too!
"All I want is a ******* good sandwich."
- John Gotti (wiretapped).

My favourites are turkey with cranberry, sprouts, and brie, or swiss cheese with sweet onion and tomato. Also like grilled blue cheese.

Hi, that's not a lunch box, it's an all day meal container.

Mickey Rooney also passed away yesterday, however he was 93.

And they say size doesn't matter. I think it does.
