Wife reminded me that this was taken almost ten years ago but this was the most fun I had as a private pilot.
No plane can fly over without a look up to see what it is. Think I got it from my father.

Wow, that boy will be bored flying a jet by the time he's old enough to.

private pilot here with about 500 hrs single engine fixed, we had a Cessna 182 twenty something years ago.

Thanks, Bob, for the video and new thread.

If you click on the link at the top of each YouTube video, a new window/tab will open and you can read the comments about his brilliance and possible Asperger's Syndrome. [edit -- under the first video] There are other videos on the sidebar, like this one of him in an Airbus training cockpit.

An amazing mind . . . check out his comments at 0:37!

What a dilemma? That kid is obsessed with jets but definitely has the brain power for bigger and better.

Growing up our neighbor had a Cub he flew from a grass strip. My parents told me I was FORBIDDEN to even think of going over there. It's one of many regrets I still carry.

This story is from a few years ago when my daughter was in high school. Virginia has since gone on to earn her LTA Private Pilots Certificate (license) and will be taking her Commerical check-ride this summer allowing her to provide balloons rides for hire.

One very proud father!

Enjoy,

Although I gave it up decades ago, I still follow the technology and am currently studying for the Drone Pilot rating, and have yet to launch it for the first time. Future plans may involve going up with an Instructor and consider getting current. For fun in the Winter I like to study operating manuals for Aircraft that would require a winning lotto ticket to fly. “Clear Prop!”

Seems like I have a hankering for aluminum "vehicles".

My Van's RV10 preceded Tulip (our FC28) - now I just have to find a way to get both RVs in the same picture! (Also, apparently like the aluminum so much I haven't gotten around to painting in 5 years...)

Love the 10 Phil. My sitting height is just too tall for any of the Van’s but I’m watching the 15 development. I have one picture that has all the reasons I haven’t retired. I’m still having fun but it will soon be time to thin the heard.

Once a pilot...

bit with the bug early by neighbors Wein and legend Sam O. White, Bachner's Air Service all trading at my folks' neighborhood grocery store. SEL, SES with complex endorsement. Was the curator of a 1953 Cessna 170B and a 1960 180C in turn, where developed an appreciation for the durability and maintenance needed to keep a monocoque aluminum transport happy.

Many happy hours in places few have ever seen, along with C.A.P. search and rescue in equipment I'd never be able to afford like DHC2 Beavers on floats. Sold the 180 a few years ago when the missions were fewer and skills were not as sharp due to disuse. Not to mention supporting the curation of a 60 year old airframe for a few hours a year was SPENDY!

A few clips:
https://youtu.be/w06T0omGyVc long one
https://youtu.be/o5w8oQeSrVM short one

Thanks for the memory jolt.

Any Pilots out there.....

Been getting paid to do a hobby for three decades now and wouldn’t trade it for the world. The company I fly for allows pilots to live anywhere in the US which has given me the opportunity to travel all over for the past three years. As soon as the new AS arrives, we’re head right back out on the road.

Love those Moonys. Owned two and have 1500 hours in them (M20E and M20J). Pleasure only.
