hobby..........a spare time interest or occupation, especially one taken up just for pleasure. Webster

Also, an enterprise for which you take a tax deduction, but after some time (I think about three years) has never made a profit, is defined as a hobby, therefore no more tax deduction. IRS

Covers a lot, doesn't it?

toy trains eh ? I have a whole bunch of American Flyer stuff. It is a passive hobby. I pick it up when I see it for cheap. Most of it is from the early to mid fifties. Gotta love AC Gilbert ! I am working on a 4-8-4 right now. It is a 336. If any of that makes sense to ya. They never made a big boy, to my knowledge, to bad really. Ever been to Portola, Ca. ? Ya really should go. Lots of really cool trains there ! The SNU is having a rally there this summer.

I also collect glass insulators. I think I have around 400 or so.

Lately I have been collecting NOS parts for my 1963 Mercury Comet Convertible. That is a very slow process.

Oh yea, I also have been known to pick up a old juke box or old radio or two. I have a 1930 something Westinghouse plus a few Zenith Transoceanics too. Not to mention my 2 1953 Ami Jukeboxes.

My hobby is backcountry canoeing in Ontario Canada. But that is on hold since the baby was born and I miss it. Here is me carrying the canoe on a typical portage - can't take the airstream in there!

If you are looking for something to collect, I make cow pie clocks. Let's make a deal.

I was going to reply "most all of the above" but Lumatic and Richard takes the 'cake' for the most unusual. I hope his fresh specimens are not carried home in his A/S!

British sports cars. They don't rust, thanks to the oil leaks, and the electrical systems often fail, thanks to Lucas, Prince of Darkness.

I collect makeup compacts from the twenties & thirties. mostly silver & enamel or cloisonné ~ before the days of mass produced disposables.

:OK remcolent, you win. I don't have a clue of what the point of that is. Especially after reading the thread about using smaller TVs to save gas!

I, on the other hand, run with my dog around an obstacle course as fast as we can. Now that is a sensible thing to do!

I used to just take photos when I went someplace because I wanted the memory....then people started wanting to pay me for the photos.
So, I guess the strange part is the hobby turns some cash from time to time, and now I am being invited to participate in galleries.
