Any old car guys out there?

Hi Guys,

I need a little help. We have recently purchase a 1934 Plymouth coupe 6 cylinder car. We have been in the old car hobby a Long, Long, time and have collected some neat stuff. Haold loves the orphan cars, I guess someone gotta love them.

Anyway we are in need of a transmission. Never in my life did I think it would be this hard to locate a transmission for this little coupe! I have tried everyone that we know and no luck anywhere. We have a 29 stearns Knight, one of 3 left and once we found the right network of people we had no problems getting any part we needed, we paid through the nose for some of them but there were out there.

So any Plymouth nuts out there that can help? I've tried all the Plymouth clubs that I can find on the internet and still no luck. Please help us get this little girl on the road.

Annette

I think you have probably found one of the most helpful forums on the AACA site, if they can't help I would be hard pressed to come up with anyone better.

Good luck in your search....

Annette,

You can try the Charlotte Auto Fair. A friend of mine (Corvette Nut) attends routinely. I spoke with him and he said that he would look around for you if you're interested.

PM me if you want his contact information.

Regards,

Kevin

You guys are great, I have all ready tried all your suggestions, except the Auto Fair, and no luck. So I thought where would all these tranny be? Then I had a light blub moment and thought maybe if you were going to hot rod on of these cars you might have a Transmisssions!

So I joined and posted a want ad on the H.A.M.B. And BINGO within minutes I had a response. The guy thinks he can help but needs time to look through his stuff.

Annette, does the Plymouth not have a transmission, or does the one it has now need repairs?

It came with its original transmisson, BUT and the buts are always big! It had been taken apart and of course lots of peices are either missing or broken. Harold is a lot like you Terry, He can fix anything. And if he could find another tranny he could make a good one out of 2.

I had success with the H.A.M.B. board this morning, got one guy who thinks he might have one and then another post with the name of a man in PA who is suppose to be the Guru of Plymouth transmission. So we called him, he said send him what we had he would have the missing pieces and for $400.00 we would have a like new transmission .
.

Sound like the way to go. Once again you guys are great.

Annette
