Bluegrass
Good stuff bassfiddler. As noted in 10/29/08 post, I am working on the mandolin. If you like bluegrass, you know of Jon Reischman and the Jaybirds. If you haven't seen it, take a look at "Chinese bluegrass" on YouTube. Maybe all we need in this old world is a good international jam session!

Bluegrass out of the closet (so to speak)
Great to see all this talent. We take our Caravels to Camps and festivals. Wish I could afford the Puget Sound Camp this summer.

Thanks for the heads up on the Jon Reischman clip mrauch. Good stuff for sure...I agree with you about a worldwide jam session. Fact is we're more similar than different no matter where you're from.
And thanks for the link to you guys hwy61. Mighty fine mighty fine.

I am a drummer, and own a small company making high end custom snare drums and drums sets from stave. Glad to see there are a few other percussionists in this crowd.

An older gentleman (92) here at Land Yacht Harbor (Tom Little) - played the guitar and sang profesionally in his younger years. He also was a trick rope artist in rodeos - he then went to owning a large number of beauty supply businesses. Quite a person.

Guitar, banjo, and working on mandolin.
Anything bluegrass.
Know why they give bluegrass songs titles?
"So you can tell 'em apart".
Martin HD35, Gibson Hummingbird, Gibson Earl Scruggs, Gibson Retro4 and a $90 Harmony Monterrey AStyle, 4 Ukeleles, Dobro Reso, Dulcimer, bag of harmonicas,
melodica, juice harp, Bobo, my tub/weedeater line bass and a couple of fiddles.
(and a Yamaha and an openback Rover I keep at work)
One of these days I'm gonna learn how to play 'em.

I would give away my airstream to be able to play a musical instrument. I have no musical talent what so ever.

In that case, drop that shiny Caravel off in my driveway and I'll have you rockin' out on the kazoo in one afternoon! All jokes aside, it's never too late to learn. I've taught guitar lessons to a gentleman who is in his seventies. I taught myself to play guitar as a teen with a few good books and a lot of practice. Much to the displeasure of my poor mother, who dealt with a couple of years of REALLY bad guitar playing. At age 15, I ended up playing bass guitar with a classic country band in which the next youngest member was 63.

Toastie,
Anytime you get down to Austin, I'll guarantee I can have you playing some cool patterns on the drums at the end of a day! It'll take some work n' practice on that day but guess what, you'll do it. If nothing else, we can drink some beers, tell some lies and talk about what it is...
Oh, and as much as I like Airstreams, I got one. My payoff is passing the torch but you gotta promise to keep it up & practice.

Hey guys,
My band Santa Mamba won Best Latin act this last week. We will be opening for Los Lobos at the Newport Yachiting center on June 26th. Tickets are only $20 bucks. We are also playing the Bethlehem Music Fest on August 6th. That would be a great Festival Rally. Check out Santamamba.com for all of our RI gigs this summer.
Sorry I have not been to any events. I hope to make one this year.
We have a new 6 month old girl and I think she is ready to camp.
See ya soon.

Just wondering if anyone is going to the Festival this week. Work around here is finally caught up with so I have the Caravel fully packed for a completely unplanned get away. Fully packed means a guitar, a folding chair and a credit card. Having no itinerary I was going to head toward Nashville for the heck of it....til I saw what was going on there this coming week....X'd that idea. Then thought "what the heck" I will head up toward the other Nashville...in Brown County, Indiana. I'm hoping someone here might have some experience in the area a make a suggestion or two for this unregulated trip. I really like those out of the way Jams.
